Somehow it doesn't seem like the ideal way to launch a spaceship... from under a mountain of dirt and rubble....

I wonder why Japanese never do films that would have other race ? Like Indian, Whites, blacks Chinese - It just Japanese people I would have thought a film based about defending earth against invading Alien races would have other nations in Yamato the ship to fight together - like how Star trek showed
and then they do anime and try to look like white people. -
Phat!

Loved this movie! I remember running home to watch Star Blazers and Captain Harlock every day after school. When I found this movie, it was heaven.

Japanese Captain Birdseye is way more badass than british Captain Birdseye.

I'm in love. <3

I'm really sad that this movie's script was so bad... the direction was spot on
-
why is this not on Netflix dubbed in English?

Isn't the Wave Motion Gun basically an oversized Railgun?

one of the best looking live action to me :3

this doesnt make sense. Theres a flying battleship which was sunk in 1946. I wasnt alive in 1946 but I'm fairly certain the yamato couldnt fly.

This scene always makes me want to cheer like a wildman

I wish there were sub-titles. I can't wait for the book to come out.

Just some random searches on Youtube today and came upon this! I never knew there was a live action movie, wholly crap! I'm impressed they borrowed the procedure for firing the wave motion gun straight from the cartoon: from the safety, the gun trigger, and even the tubes ramming into each other in the engine room.
