X Rebirth - Series Reboot #10
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
http://www.egosoft.com/ X: Rebirth is a singleplayer open world space simulation game. In X-Rebirth you are free to trade and build stations. You can engage in space battles and upgrade your single ship. The game takes place in a reimagined X-Universe. The X universe has changed alot from the older games no longer using primarily gates to travel but space highways. Stations are no longer small objects but city sized structures. In X: Rebirth you can now land your ship and exit to explore the inside of space stations and trade with different races. You can interact with them or hire them to work for you. Agree. Hate seeing games clearly try to appeal to a wider audience. I don't get how that decision gets made once, let alone as often as we've seen it. It NEVER works. You give the uninterested a product that's only half as simple as they want, and the core fans get a game that looses sophistication through obvious pandering.
X games aren't /meant/ to have broad appeal. Capitalism at work. -
Hey +Michael Waddle the thing you said about the menu's that you just need these complex menu's in such games is absolutely wrong. I understand where you are coming from but just listen to this ship commanding RTS style mock up: open zoom-able interactive map -> select own ship (just ckick on it) select stetion where to go -> small contextual menu pops up -> select sell stuff or buy stuff. So no hierarchical menu's needed. I never understood why the never thought of making 1 good map witch allowed the overview your empire and manage your ships. From a usabillity standpoint imo they failed big time. Many other games made decent RTS style navigation in 3D space why couldn't they. There are enough examples.

I tried to play again last night after a few weeks off. Took an escort mission for a small freighter. While in the highway, I accidentally fired my weapon and the freighter exited the highway. I waited 20 minutes and kept fighting off the occasional raiders while the freighter made no attempt to reenter the highway. Not the first time I rage quit this game :(

Thanks for rekindling my interest in this game again man. 245 hours played and I had thought I was done. But watching this series got me to try it again and I'm finding things I missed and that have changed. They changed the speech minigame and it looks like you can get permanent trade updates from a station by winning one at a station and choosing the option. And you can now carry a full boarding crew with your own engineer and officer, stations work now.. game is looking good. They also fixed pathing to enemies.

Always enjoy finding this late in the evening. The only Lets Play I watched for over 2 yrs or something, a nice difference from the mainstream. I enjoy space games but I really suck at them :D

If you small talk with a NPC then ask for directions to a person the person he points you to will have visible skills. :)
Also you should small talk the traders on each station and ask for "trade offers and updates" i think its called that, because it ill always keep your trading computer up to date with what that station is selling FOREVER! comes very handy later when looking for materials. really enjoy your lets plays keep it up :D.
