Would You Consider Flying to Space in This Affordable Rocket Ship? | Short Film Showcase
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
At the program’s zenith, NASA’s shuttle took only a handful of trips to space every year. Jeff Greason envisions something more like Southwest Airlines for his company XCOR. His cadre of aerospace engineers is hunkered down in the Mojave Desert, working on a spacecraft prototype with a very ambitious goal: four daily, safe, round-trip flights to space, five days a week. If XCOR can succeed, they’ll take more people to space in a period of six months (and for less money) than NASA did over 30 years. Production company Freethink documents the work of XCOR in this clip from the series The New Space Race. ➡ Subscribe: http://bit.ly/NatGeoSubscribe ➡ Get More Short Film Showcase: http://bit.ly/Shortfilmshowcase About Short Film Showcase: The Short Film Showcase spotlights exceptional short videos created by filmmakers from around the web and selected by National Geographic editors. I fucking love that guy

flat earthers see space programmes as a threat to the bible and creationism. but that’s not the worst thing about their religion.. they want everyone to think that global warming is a joke so that they can promote their "end of times" claims while keeping us ignorant that they have very powerful people supporting this theory. they want people to think nature disasters exist because their God is disappointed with us and that global warming doesn't have a scientific explanation and that we should only pray for help. religion once again shows why it needs to be banned. it will lead us to self destruction just for the sake of gaining new followers.

i would fly in it .
-
If only Carrie Fisher would be here to see this. R.I.P😢
-
Great!! :)
-
I'd fly to space in a canoe if I could.

Opens the video...

Punches the keyboard...
Hell yes!!! But yaw buying... -
What? This is just a space tourism concept. Sub-orbital, and not for transportation... why is it being compared to the Space Shuttle (a vehicle that goes to orbit) and SouthWest Airlines (which flies for transportation)?
This is silly! There's nothing here!!! -
The space shuttle launched four times a year. The Lynx launches zero times a year, because it only exists as a concept. Put up or shut up, Jeff. More launches, less videos. Take a cue from Elon Musk. ;)
-
i mean sure, but you need a bigger ship to carry enough fuel to get the delta-V needed for LEO or ISS. that's too small with no fuel tanks
-
When was this created? Unfortunately, I feel it may be a little behind. XCOR is no longer working on the Lynx- at least for now. In May, they laid off a third of their people (20), and focused on boosters for United Launch Alliance. Hopefully, the Lynx will fly some day, but it may be a long way away.

sign me right the fuck up

You've been saying space is the next frontier since the 60s hahaha but no one can go to space. Keep dreaming you sci-fi fucking idiots. High altitude maybe. No space though as it does not exist
-
id do it
-
NASA can't leave low earth orbit cause we living in a computer program really
-
How about this. Have space stations to orbit celestial bodies. Use landers to take you back and forth between the celestial bodies and their respective space stations. Use a space shuttle to between the various space stations. Yeah its more expensive but by having designated tasks, it is less prone to failure. Its just as we do now when we drive (lander) to the airport (space station) and then hop in a plane (space shuttle) to a new destination.
-
I fully support your push for advancement, but I'd probably have a heart attack at the age of 32 if I was a passenger on the Lynx.
-
i rather built a Quantum physics in warp Dimensional Drive saucers that can across galaxies and across multi Dimensional universes in seconds

Hey, do you want to be super super rich in the future? How about we take Mars for free, then invest into building residential areas there, and sell the housing to rich people on Earth along with an "affordable" ticket for travelling to Mars.
And I thought the goal was to save the HUMANITY, silly me! 🌚 -
3:00 not gonna lie , i cried a little there.
