Damn straight about Masters at Work. Kenny taught me what it all meant
way back in '90. Sanchez, Morillo, Teneglia, Junior...shit NYC had a
deeeeep bench back in the day! I think another problem we have today is a
lack of venues for great house music. I mean think about the clubs we
lost! Sound Factory, Tunnel, Danceteria, Limelight, Palladium,
Octagon...just to name a few. Loved the talk about respecting the
traditions, the elders... Good doc my dude. Loved it. By the way I need
that track at 18:42! -
Really interesting video and you touched on some very good points.I'm British and ive got a few things I'd like to raise. What do you think of the UK sound? if you even think it has one? For me personally the underground culture in Britain has more been about the youth, go to a rave here and it's lots of young people from all sorts of Backgrounds. I do feel at a glance sound does tend to stem towards the heavy/dirty/tech sound but there are also a lot of artists(most of them white) coming out of the U.k/Germany/Holland which have taken over that sound which has its roots in the american sound and I think have progressed it. People like Detroit Swindle and their record labels Dirt Crew recordings/Heist recordings-They've got the funky/deep/soulful vibe but in a new sort of way, what do you think of stuff like this? Sort of lost my focus here but think my point is that their are lots of artists out there who definitely make music with culture still it's just its a lot more congested amongst everything else. Sifting through it takes more time I guess which is why some people may not discover it. Also thought I should say I love the American sound, discovered Omar s this year, phenomenal music.

Interesting mini documentary/interview piece. Do you have a tracklist for some of the tracks in the background?
Thanks -
I'm from the same era as you in new York. The sound didn't evolve like u said, it died. Most people from older house days are gone. Grew JP started families and what not. The faces and sounds change every few years because people move on in life. There aren't many of is who stick with it for life. New York hasn't been the same since giulani came in and shut new York clubs down. Great mayor, he really cleaned up new York but it had a big impact on clubs. Also the whole Michael alig crime changed everything.

Preach bro! I love Oscar G, especially when he was with MURK/Funky Green Dogs! I think it all boils down to money and that America does not really support House music! Also, the history of how the Blues has greatly influenced almost ALL popular music! For House (and even Techno) most people do not acknowledge the black/r&b element! Of course the Latinos were heavily involved but if you go to the 70s what do you hear? All disco was, was uptempo R&B! I think things are good and will get better but the truth needs to be told! You da man bro! You know your shit! I got mad respect for you bro!
