There were a LOT of unknowns about spaceflight in the early 1960s, including what would happen if a rocket exploded en route to orbit. Enter Project Highwater. Want weekly Vintage Space? Any h2 lox rocket would generate a lot more water than the one used as ballast in that mission.

Why was the Alan Bean Painting Apollo blurred out?
-
What is the picture fuzzed out on the wall behind you?

If sending a rocket to intercept a dangerous asteroid, could it not eject an array of liquid drops that would evaporate to form a long, cylindrical cloud? The asteroid then just flies through the gas banana, and has its speed reduced by a fraction of a percent?
-
why are you making a picture fuzzy?
-
Ha Ha the crab claw is holding the microphone
-
So what happened to the water after it become a cloud, dispersed into space or returned to the earth?
-
Never heard of the S-5 rocket before.

I've never heard of Project highwater it's funny to think of how much money and effort was spent on such a (seemingly) trivial question. I'd have loved to sit in on the board meeting where they decided on this, there must have been at least a few giggles

Is that a dirty poster in the background? It's ok you can tell us winkiewinkie*
-
Speaking of water in space, didn't they try spraying a trail of water behind one of the Gemini capsules to see if they could communicate during re-entry?
-
Why is you wall blurred

Nice video
-
Judging by the popularity , next video should all blurred , except the picture in the background .

Didn't really notice any poster, was more interested in the science they learned from exploding those tanks so high up in the air. Did they learn how to make stronger fuel tanks from these experiments, or how to get around that radio blocking?
