Why Did I Leave My 'Dream Job'? Deep Astronomy VLOG
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Over the years, I've done a great many things and have accomplished much of what I wanted professionally. When I left the Institute last October, I received a very poignant comment from a viewer. This is my response. You may have left your "dream job" behind, but you have a new dream now. I wish you well in your journey to go after your dreams. Keep dreaming!

Hey I have a quick question I think you will be able to answer it. I am a high school student going into my senior year. My dream is to be an astrophysicist, and I was wondering what as a high school student should I be doing to get there. I am taking calculus and ap physics in my senior years, and I also do about an hour of math everyday whether it be teaching myself calculus on khan academy or just going over old math. I know this is long but I would appreciate the advice. thank you and have an awesome day.

Just want to tell you that 10 years ago my country ass did not know anything about astronomy. But thanks to you and your videos I look at our world and our place in space in a hole new light. I think if everybody would watch your videos to know how small we really are, and how much there is our there it would help to tame the human race. And make this a better world to live on.

I feel you Tony, Lot a stuff I learned from you I told with joy to my friends they loved it!

Could you describe the manual mathematics (if any) you do every day - or is it all computational stuff... I'm an engineering student and have been dealing with power series, fourier series, differential equations, partial differential equations... etc
Is any of this applicable? -
Been following you for a couple of years now. More and more people are getting into astronomy. Thanks for sharing.

i am a cosmos man... And your channel help me alot

Please keep this up. The world of astronomy needs more people like you to contribute professionally or in amateur ways :)

Hey Tony,
Thanks for sharing your life with your fans, I being one of them. You are a good guy and I so appreciate your sharing your knowledge of Astronomy with us all. I'm interested in Dark Energy and Dark matter an so will be paying particular attention to your coverage of those subjects. Of course, I'll be following the rest of your content with interest as well as I, too, keep looking up. Take care! -
I remember when I watched the Hubble Telescope video on 2007 or so... it was the most amazing thing I had seen at that time! It had a big impact on me and I shared it with many people. Good luck with your next step in life, it's good to follow what you feel like doing and I hope you'll inspire many people!

well.....
i hate my life and my situation... but when i got my telescope, it helps trivialize my earthly problems for a little bit. helps me reach out and recharge my head. focus on something far away. kinda the reason some men like to go fishing alone.
The torture of being surrounded by people who don't look highly on science and space related things. anti-intellectualism... and i get rather bogged down by debunking Flat Earthers... it's just so unsettling to me. it's like fighting a rising tide. -
Hey man. Like your channel channel a lot. You said there's a lot of astronomy content on YouTube and I agree, but your channel really stands out to me and I've enjoyed it for quite some time. Looking forward to hearing about your personal journey.

If I may make a suggestion, I would do more of these interesting space videos. Looking at your post history your video "A Journey into a Black Hole Collision" seems to spike in popularity/views in relation to Space Fan/VLogs (Black Hole Collision is 19k where the video before it is at 5k). If you have ever watched the channel Vsauce, he comes a simple question and answers it with alot of science. My advice is, draw viewers in with a simple question, and then answer the question with a ton of science, even going off topic. For example, he made a video "How Hot Can It Get?" and he veered far off track with other interesting, scientific information that in some way contributed to a bigger idea. If you wanna replicate the success of your previous videos, i'd just make interesting, random videos. I love your The Decay of Heaven video and watched it multiple times because it is just simply, interesting. Don't get me wrong; SFN and Vlogs are great, and you should NOT stop doing them, but in terms of success in viewership, random science videos do better and are more interesting. Some examples?
- What is Dark Matter?
- Will Humans Ever Go Extinct?
- What is the Largest Thing in the Universe? -
tony, you are a very good person and i love watching your videos! keep up the good work
-
wishing you much success and happiness...looking forward to the new content
