The time given that a Solar Eclipse or Lunar Eclipse occurs that is given by astronomers is usually several minutes different from the time that astrologers give. In this tutorial video we explain why. Astrologers typically calculate the eclipse time as occurring when then the Sun and Moon are exactly conjunct in zodiac longitude. Astronomers, on the other hand, calculate the time of the eclipse as being when the Sun and Moon have the greatest overlap. With the help of diagrams to demonstrate why these times are different, David explains clearly and simply the astronomical basis of the difference in these times. As also explained in this video, this difference in the time of Solar Eclipses and Lunar Eclipses as calculated astrologically and astronomically does not affect the interpretation of how the eclipse affects somebody by most astrologers because most astrologers do not interpret the house cusps of the eclipse chart. However, house cusps of the eclipse chart are often used in predicting political events and natural disaster, weather, etc. David recommends using the astrological time for the eclipse for astrological work but more research is needed to confirm that this is correct.
