Dark energy, what exactly does it do? Find out in this episode of Space Time! Part 3 in our Dark Energy series. Measuring past expansion history should tell us the future expansion without ever having to count any galaxies. To measure this we need to measure the redshift-distance relationship, which we will talk about in detail in this episode. So, doesn't this lead to the conclusion that a big rip is inevitable? Or am I missing something?

Wondering if dark matter and dark energy curve and move differently than regular matter and energy. Probably need to watch more videos.
-
Is it possible to exploit dark energy to create new usable energy, electricity for example?
-
These videos are great man, I think alot more people should take some time of their life everyday to watch some and get educated on our universe.
-
Does every effect on screen have to be accompanied by some sort of whooshing sound?
-
Would you please do some of this in math/
-
Is there a reason to assume that the geometry of universe is the same outside our observable part? How can we be sure that the flatnes that we observe is not just local?
-
I love this series... I can't stand the smarmy host.
Life is a dilemma -
Light is projected by a program dark energy or dark matter control. I wonder if someone's brain interacts with the quantum light of a picture in separate place in space ?
-
What if the expansion is caused by matter outside the observable universe? We could just be a hole in the universe and all matter is simply clumping towards the more denser surrounding.
-
Type Ia rules!
-
Could accelerated cosmic expansion just be magnetic or electric
replusion? Maybe all galaxies have a net positive charge? Maybe the
distance between galaxies is increasing in addition to the fabric of
spacetime itself? -
Hey, an idea to the nex topics. The Great GRB Wall, and the problems that it supposedly cause to our recent models of the universe. (If it really causes any)
-
just a thought, what is the wavelength decay over time?
-
What does the universe being flat really mean? Is it like a very large rectangle, or more like a three dimensional plane?
-
So what sort of university coursework does someone need to complete to become an Astro physicist? I just got out of the Army and I'm looking for a new calling in life. I've never had a physics class (even in high school) and my highest math was pre calculus. Where does the good stuff start?
-
Where do you get your music? It's very pretty!

I have a problem with the Assumption that the universe will expand forever because I don't believe it's possible to measure the density of the universe simply because it's impossible to predict just how much density any black hole and in particular super massive black holes contains... Or am I just totally wrong?

We came up with the theory of the big bang by observing how the stars are moving away from each other to explain fast. Then now we think it's actually space expanding thats causing thiings to move away from each other. So if thats the case wouldn't that throw off the whole everything coming from one point thing. Like if space expands exponetially outside of galaxies in intergalactic space, wouldn't that totally throw everything off and actually make more sense if there were several big bangs in seccession?
