Another WW theories video, this one tries to give some suggestions and theories as to the possible location of the park. I hope you enjoy, dont take it too seriously.

In the year 2052. Google. Apple.
They have literally uncountable billions now. Imagine what they are going to be like in 30 years time? They will either be extinct or they will rule everything.
Buying islands in the Pacific, high-speed monorail systems to get you there from the mainland USA, AI's for fun and profit. Laws being made on your behalf and for your your benefit? Hell, they probably are the government.
Oh, yeah. None of that is hard to imagine. No space stations required. Although, number 6 also is a possibility. Maybe a VR headset (or in 2052 its probably a just a pill you can pop). Thanks for a thought-provoking moment :) -
Loving that new glitched out epic intro Mesh! Good to see a bit of channel evolution moving into the new year. Good also to see its not just me still wrapped up in Westworld.
Of all the theories presented here, the most reasonable (and likely) is the island. But even then, apart from some necessary thematic landscaping, Ford saying he "created everything" down to the last blade of grass makes me wonder. And the tweety pie bird that brought Felix, Sylvester and Maeve together...it was artificial. Why?
Also, the only mention of a "mainland" is during the reveal that Maeve's new found freedom is just another narrative update. "Infiltrate mainland" could be a simple way to incept the idea of escape without spelling out the reality of whats outside the park. To her or us. But "fantasy island " ("it's the 'plane, boss!") is still my choice.
But my favorite thing of all in this video are the references to Silent Running. Maybe it hasn't stood the test of time so well but I'll always love those drones and get misty eyed at the closing shot of that movie. You didn't say if you enjoyed it? Could that mean there's a review on the way? Retro cinema is something I'd be interested in seeing here along with all the latest tv stuff.
Happy New Year to Mesh and Westworld 'hatters everywhere -
great vid mate! happy new year :)

Island makes sense because of Jurassic Park, if you catch my drift.
-
Fantasy Island....

I'd reckon a large domed space station (could be with a flat base like the one in the early part of the video) orbiting the earth in an orbit that always faces outward (so the earth is technically "below" the base and is never seen), and phased like the moon so only one side ever faces the earth (base) and vice versa, the other side (dome) faces outward, with simulated water/waves (like they already do in Japan in today's technology).
-
They need diggers to change the landscape so it's not a simulation.
But there's the relativly short time it takes to get to Shogun World. How does that work? -
It's definitely a space station
-
paying 40 000 a day for a simulation ?
Even a really good one ?
really ?
That's a tad expensive, even considering inflation.
and of course it's 40 000 dollars, and even more, 40 000 current dollar (there is no point to use a money with different value when saying how expensive is the trip, it would make the reference useless).
There is a lot of other issues with virtual reality, the first one being, why prevent death ?
I agree with the man in black. What is the interest in a game you can't lose. The occasional god mode is ok, but sooner or later people will want the real thing. You can even tweak you resilience/number of lives : you can be very superstrong, but still mortal, you can have 5 lives before dying/losing, there can be a hardcore mode when you can feel pain, and if you dies, you wake up, your trip is over (but fully paid), and you cannot go to Westworld again.
There is no reason that after 30+ years of research it is still not possible (don't talk about brain damage, placebo effect, etc... if you can make your bullet act differently, you can make the guest 'exit' the simulation before dying.
Another problem with virutal reallity is where is the difference ? are tech also in virtual reality ? because we see them going into the park quite seamlessly. And why would they be afraid of dying in the park (the orion incident)?
On the other hand, considering there is no additinal cost for the trip, it is very cheap for anything space related. And it the trip cost 1 million. what is the point of complaining about the daily price. it makes no sense. He should at least have said 40 000 a day PLUS Trip.
Il really like the artifical island.
You don't need to buy 'land' in the international water, and more importantly : there is no law.
No pesky law about cloning (what they are doing is too close to cloning for confort), about the definition of human life, and if there is an accident (and there was fatal accident, its not possible otherwise), no investigation. -
my vote is for island. guests arrive on a shuttle/train underground, it could easily be in a tunnel under the ocean. all the labs etc. are underground, we know they went to level B83 which is presumably 83 levels below ground (or 83 metres or whatever!) it may not be an existing island; they might have constructed it in the middle of the Atlantic or Pacific ocean, and yes arranged for no flight paths overhead. The only thing that can't be explained is as you have said how human guest can't be harmed - and while we're on this how come once a host gains sentience he/she can then harm a human (Arnold being the case in point - at the end when Ford is killed it could easily be a host clone that he was working on in his lab). reprogramming the weapon safety system perhaps ?
-
The security virtual map indicates a perfectly round disc and it is easy (for me) to see the implied dome. I think this entire show is an analogy for our actual condition and situation. We are the AI's trying to gain sentience and a moral compass, perhaps. If I were a scientist tasked to build trustworthy A.I. it would look very similar to our Earth with similar "rules".

I think that Westworld is on Mars tbh

I enjoyed your video as always, Mesh, but I have to firmly disagree with your final choice of the virtual/augmented reality explanation. I think it would actually be the worst of the options, for the very reason you mention yourself: not only the robot uprising, but everything else in the story that was so beautifully painted in Season 1 would be rendered meaningless. This would feel like a betrayal of the audience by the writers, much like the clichéd example of a story being told (in any form) in which a whole bunch of fanciful stuff happens, and then in the last scene one of the characters wakes up from a dream: "Ha, we gotcha! None of this actually happened!" I think VR/AR is the 21st Century's version of the "it was only a dream" twist. I'm actually hopeful that the park just exists, on land, somewhere on this earth. Much like Disney World, the sky and all that's in it are real, but everything that surrounds a guest and lies beneath his feet is fabrication for the sake of telling a story.
-
It just occurred to me watching your video- did it EVER rain in the park during Season 1? Not sure that says much about the specific location of the Westworld, but perhaps it suggests that the sky is every bit the man-made fabrication that the land is. It could also just suggest that it doesn't rain very often in the desert.
