Game released.....the verdict! IT F**KING SUCKS ASS!
Not even optimized, crashed on pressing 'i' in co-op.
boring repetitive, uninspiring, game play.
LOL another one bite the dust -
I have experienced a lot of FPS drops and my PC can run it easily.

They didn't catch the mood of the board game. Space Hulk is a game of sacrifice. You send slow moving marines into space hulks, confronting lightning fast genestealers. It is like a game of tag where if the genestealers touch you, you die. If you shoot first they die, but you have very limited ammo. So you slowly blast your way forward, set up your defensive positions on the way, leaving marines behind as sacrifices to hold back the tide, carefully watching your ammo counter, praying that your last few marines can reach the end of the level and win you the game.
The cool thing about the board game was that it was fucking hard. Winning as a marine was a major challenge.
If they introduce limited ammo and design the levels so the players have to split up they could still have a winner. Imagine staying behind to cover your squad, fighting a desperate last stand where every fucking second you stay alive your Brother-Marines gets further away from danger, fighting untill your inevitable death by fang and claw. That would be grimdark as fuck. That would be living the promethean space marine life, being this incredible superhuman fighter, an angel incarnate, whose final destiny is to get torn asunder and die in some dark corner of the universe, mangled by lesser beings. -
give me that high gothic chanting during fights and progression outside of a level and i am sold!

uh...why do the animation frames for your teammates look really bad? its like 3 FPS! but the enemies are clearly higher and better looking....its like they cut the budget to ally NPC/team members....

Great vid, very instructive, thank you. I do hope the devs see it.

I have to say im a hard core war-hammer 40k fan, i started on table top and own all of the strategy games. I hope they can address at least some of these issues and at the very least have heavy lore threw cut screens ext. Sadly im am afraid from previous experiences as large as the franchise is it will not have the following or funding for continued improvements on another potentially epic game .

is there controller gamepad support?
-
Sad... the game graphics and design, atmosphere are all fantastic and awesome.
-
what did you play this on?
-
Why are the enemies sometimes seen as a solid orange silhouette? I really dislike that. Blows the atmosphere...

Excellent video. Also think sound design seriously needs work and I find that the UI is deeply intrusive and distracting. Also, the modular damage system doesn't work.

A bit harsh, but honest and well-argumented critique. Good job!

Good Review, would be pretty much my exact evaluation, only you probably said it better.

good review i agree they didnt get the feels right!

I honestly didn't mind the lack of music. I did experience some FPS issues but no major bugs. The game is not perfect but telling people to not buy into it will ensure its failure. As in money is needed to make games better. I highly recommend this game to all and come in with an open mind and learn the lore. It will help.

The biggest thing all the naysayers are forgetting is the lore that is 40k. Armored Super Humans (Space Marines) that have a mass 2 1/2 times larger then a large human. The small fighting spaces are important because your fighting on a Cadian Battle Barge which is a standard size human imperial Army. The Devs are trying to stay true to the Lore. The inaccurate weapons and large cone of fire and the simplistic melee is correct due to the sheer size of the weaponry. For example, the power sword from the Librarian would weigh hundreds of pounds...from a long time 40k guy I would highly recommend this game, however I would take some time to understand the lore of 40k. The mutated neophytes and servitors with stubber pistols would definitely damage a terminator over time. I think the game play is great because the focus on the lore is mostly accurate. The game is not perfect and can be improved but the moment they try to appease the Call of Duty fan base I'm done with it. The game should make you feel cumbersome because you are a Space Marine in Terminator Armor. You are a damn walking tank. Also, for the Tyranid fans out there. Put the game on hardest difficulty and watch your squad get ripped to shreds...For the futuristic feel that people think is lacking... I say again learn the lore...40k is a weird mixture of high fantasy and far future...example Plasma Cannon standing next to your Assault Terminator with a Mace and Kite shield...if you want futuristic human warfare go play Call of Duty Infinite Warfare or Titan Fall 2...for me I cant wait to see what the full game has to offer. "Forward onto Glory for the God Emperor of Man Kind!"

I'm not sure I completely agree with the comments on Assault class. Having heavily used the mace and stormshield, you one shot anything short of a warrior breed (even your own teammates when FF is on), while the power fist seems to take 3 hits, and mace (which for some reason you can't equip in lobby but can immediately when you get into a game) take 2 on most guys, but also the assault's melee seems to affect a much larger area. The shield is a godsend though, I can't use the claws as well as holding your shield up and blocking most turret damage and any/all small arms fire from a direction, its wonderful as mobile cover. Yes missiles still explode and do aoe damage hurting you, but as long as you keep the enemy in front of you, you stop almost all damage. I DO wish the guns sounded... bigger... I mean I guess it might be muted because we are sealed in the suit (unless you are playing assault or librarian), but still. As for the leveling to unlock stuff on a per mission basis, there needs to be some kind of concession made here, either that the abilities are permanent through each level, or the gear unlock. And some character look customization would be wonderful...
Overall, the game needs about two more months worth of development, unless what we were playing on was a much older build. -
I agree with most of what you said. However, I feel your review was very one sided. I felt the game play as a whole was entertaining and the control of the terminator armor struck a good balance between "big and unwieldy" while still being fun to play. The graphics are very nice and immersive and the enemy, though lacking in AI, is still decent and honestly had more variation than I expected. Many of these points you didn't address or give opinion on. In fact, this felt more like a rant than a review as I can't remember you saying one positive thing about the game (maybe you did in passing and I just missed it, though).
