Valentinus and the Gnostics Part 2
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
INTERVIEW STARTS AT 17:00. Our second part of our series dealing the elegant theologians and poetic philosophers known as the Valentinians. Founded by the enigmatic and brilliant Valentinus of Alexandria, the Valentinians threaded a fine needle between Gnostic heresy and Christian orthodoxy, adding new dimensions to both sides that changed the course of early Christendom. We take an intimate view of their creeds, practices and scripture. We comb the Nag Hammadi Library and beyond for a thorough inspection of the Valentinian flavor of ethereal Gnosticism; as well as explore the various Valentinian schools that frustrated Orthodoxy for centuries, from the cult of Marcus the Magician to the followers of Ptolemy and his grandiose cosmology. Lastly, we study the cultural habits of the Valentinians who navigated the unpredictable Greco-Roman world and later the Christian Empire. Astral Guest—Ismo Dunderberg, author of Beyond Gnosticism: Myth, Lifestyle, and Society in the School of Valentinus and The Beloved Disciple in Conflict?: Revisiting the Gospels of John and Thomas , as well as Professor of Religious Studies at Helsinski University. good part is Hinduism also has this splitting of the personality into different layers, and the goal is to transcend the physical and strive to rise up to the other levels one by one. Many paralells between eastern and western philosophy. That's a good thing.
-
fuck commenting I am going to write you proper.
-
The Human Condition.
-
Love and the hatred, and then there was no conflict.
-
Miguel I think you should just do your preamble and no interview for while or in sound bites. Fuck, you, you feel it too bitch. Your song choices and words are worth mentioning. Just give us a good one that has no intellectual ass hat on the tail end of it. I feel you in my body, and it is not your genitals, it is your psychic crisis reaching out to my own, an extreme human condition of communication. Coffee and cigarettes could never stem or reach.
-
What experiment are you gainfully employed to do for a system, that is right here, far away is just that. The crippling of all game for some prize of $$$. I shall pay you, so you become fascinated with the exchange every day checking your balance sheets. Afraid to go on disabilty or take a job you are educated for. All we got is labor here and it is not for your godly birthing, it is the description of the aweful decline, the reach.
-
So this does not actually approach our experience? Your just a laughing and joking nut job at the edge of the Palomar mountain observatory>? Fuck, I could crush your nut in a few paragraphs, not because I am anything special, but some of us have balanced the coins of psychic crises, on the scale of insanity and sanity. Any day you could start extinguishing sparks, with your atlas of drug knowledge and heavy breathing sessions with us. You could open fire or become a suicide stallion for and abrahamic desertification. Light off your god damned candle for us and see how many run to the rescue of the injured and dead, in order to save them from that hell that is instantly imposed by every god or goddess worshiper, our real fucking problem is the genitals we hang up on crosses and not those we dangle or tuck between our legs. Put on more clothing if you cant contain your sperm or ovem, I see it dribbling from your genitals into every theological discussion, even now into the atheist vampire.

I love the Gnostics, and Valentinus...I've actually developed a theory that he split from the Syrian sect after an increasing Jamesian influence, as depicted in the Gospel of Thomas (follow James the Just), and rebutted in Galatians 1 and 2...so it was a sort of Marcionism 2.0. Looking forward to listening!"
-
Well, Miguel since you're fascinated by the name, it's even cooler when you consider it means "thunder mountain!"
