Under Wraps by Jethro Tull

I think this album is unjustly under-rated. People love to disregard it because of the drum machine and the 80's-rock style production... I however think it is one of the band's great moments. It is definitely my favourite of the 1980's period, simply because it is so adventurous! It may not sound like "classic" Tull, but it's experimental, challenging, daring, and progressive. I also think it contains some of Ian's best songwriting, but that's a personal opinion! It's a fun album to chat about too because it's so overlooked... Definitely a hidden gem, this one!

I'm pretty surprised that I'm not the only lover of this adventurous album, that was bashed and trashed by the fans and overlooked by others. The drum machine, 80s production and some synth sounds are horrible outdated, but for me this is the last album where IA had guts to push the band into other territories and explore new ideas. Vocals and lyrics are great too.

My first concert was Broadsword 1982 in New Haven. I spent the next 2 years listening, reading and obsessing about Tull until this album came out. I learned to love this album and was really blown away by the live show. They were almost a fusion band live with incredible energy and over the top production. The addition to Doane really helped the material live (totally agree about Gavin Harrison overdub) Although I always felt like i missed "classis" Tull, this album does represent Ian's lack of fear of trying something new. It may have even saved the band for years to come. Your review made me re visit Under wraps with fresh ears.

This is one of my favourite Tull albums, and I've been a fan since Aqualung. I like it much more than any of the later stuff barring Roots to Branches.
I'm really enjoying these videos, btw. Keep them coming.
