1. are you not considering the information from the books cannon? There is a lot of information about the origins and future of the Borg from the books that you didn't go into.
2. Vger from the original movie was retroactively made into a Borg modified technology. There was novel that I remember that went into the details behind the borg queens takeover of the collective as well witch is probably the real explanation behind the fragmented memory of 900 years ago. What species is the queen designated?
3. One small detail you failed to mention is that the borg do not assimilate every species. Some they just encounter and eradicate or leave alone. Can't remember the source of this information though. Think it was in Voyager.
4. Ok, I can't help it... The Borg have not assimilated 10,026 species. If that were true, then the human race would be part of the collective. What this means is they've encountered 10,026 species.

OK this is the first time I have watched this video but I found a flaw in your "Assumptions" about the Borg assigning numerical designations to the species they have assimilated Species 8472 was one of the most recent encounters with an alien race, the species 8472 was never assimilated by the Borg, so the Borg do not only assign numerical designations to the species they assimilate but they assign them to species they have encountered as well, Also since Icheb who was abducted by the Borg because his parents purposely infected him a a pathogen as a way to fight off the Borg, and it is implied that they have been working on this type of "Biological" warfare for a number of years,, well then how can Species 8472 have a lower numerical designation then Icheb's race if Icheb's race had been nearly wiped out by the Borg years before the Borg ever opened a portal into the realm where Species 8472 exists?
   Do not get me wrong, I love your video,, and the time line of when the Borg first got started sounds to be pretty accurate, but the "Numerical designation" of species being put in numerical order is not accurate.
6. There are some flaws with this premise.
   
   The Kazon are referenced as Species 329; Vulcans as 3259. As the Vulcans are an alpha quadrant native, Humans are 5618, 8472 (from fluidic space) is a species they had never assimilated, so using the numbers to reflect species they had assimilated is inaccurate, only that they became aware of the species, not that they had assimilated them.
   
   Ferengi as species 180, indicates that the Borg encountered denizens of the alpha quadrant pretty early, long before they encountered the Kazon. If you presume that the numeric values attachéd to each species is based on their first encounter. Somehow, the Borg in the Delta quadrant became aware of the Ferengi before they became aware of the Kazon, and at a time they didn't have Transwarp capability.
7. Very interesting overview of the Borg, only one thing I believe you missed.
   
   You assume the Borg assimilate all the species they designated but I don't believe it's the case as a matter of fact specie 8472 wasn't assimilated by the Borg but yet they designated them. I know, very few species can survive assimilation, but I believe the calculation you made might be not that realistic. Maybe over the 10026 species designated by the Borg, not all of them were assimilated, so the rate of assimilation per year maybe off, not by much, but your premises sound like a speculation, so calculate the rate of assimilation with the premises is not that correct in my opinion.
   
   The 1000 year theory it's plausible if we talk about the Borg as we know them, so a bio-mechanical specie. But in my opinion, as far as how they evolved, I've always believed the most logical way was that they were fully biological at first, many centuries before and one day a Borg (or whatever they called themselves back then!) scientist started to theorize about perfection and that by adding mechanical components to their bodies they could become perfect. Then little by little other followers theorized more and more until they started to believe in the hive concept and in the assimilation of other species as part of the quest for perfection. Only at that moment the Borg became the Borg as we know them.
   
   A second and even more immaginative version of mine about their origin, is this: the Borg might be originally from another galaxy and might be much much older as a specie and after they became interconnected with mechanical stuff, they started to conquer as many galaxies as they could so they sent thousands of vessels throughout the universe and in our galaxy they arrived 100 years before they encounter the Vaadwaur, then of course the Borg eventually evolve differently from galaxy to galaxy.
   
   Of course it's all speculation my second idea but stil I think it could fit into Star Trek fiction.
8. You asked for suggestions on video topics -since I really enjoyed this history of the Borg, I'm wondering if there's enough material to do a history of the Q continuum. Or maybe an analysis of the effects of interactions with Q on Star Trek philosophy or political systems. keep up the good work my entire family is enjoying watching these videos

12. The ultimate secret of the Star Trek universe, that only the boldest voyagers are able to comprehend, is that the Borg are the true Utopia, and the Federation the totalitarian police state. The Federation is superficially beautiful, but internally ugly. The Borg are superficially ugly, but internally beautiful. They alone in the galaxy have succeeded in blending distinct races into a better whole, rather than uniting people who basically hate each other for "mutual benefit". They alone in the galaxy do not kill. They alone in the galaxy have peace, in every sense of the word.
    
    The idea that the Borg do not possess individuality is also a red herring, for pretty much every species they have ever assimilated has some notion of individuality. If Borg ever wished to experience what it would be like to be an individual, all they'd have to do is plug into an alcove and render a perfectly realistic Holodeck-like experience of one of the myriad races. They've been around for so long, and assimilated so much, that they can quite literally do anything, and be anything. Even the form the Borg take in the context of the show is probably illusory, because their Queen (who in reality IS the Borg...think about it) is a transdimensional goddess who can bend time and space to her will LOL. She's the Q-ueen of the Universe ;)

16. Not technically show cannon but STOL tends to expand upon trek history, a lot. Including the Borg and other spices. As for the Books, I have not read any as of yet.
17. we are directly resposible for the current borg. It's made cannon by a few games. Techically the Queen was first a Vulcan. Look again to a game for windows. I think it's in one of the Armada games.
18. I can see that... seeing more borg even though Janeway destroyed them. There were always random sects of disconnected drones from the hive mind. They would not have been affected, and could be written somehow that they wanted to come back.
