Trade Secrets - Solar Hot Water Systems
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
This short videos shows you how to select and install a solar hot water system which maximises effectiveness and minimises running costs and emissions. It has been designed especially for Australian plumbers, apprentices and householders. For more information www.sustainably.net.au

I made mine years ago out of a 100 foot roll of ABS Black water line 1 inch Works great in the summer

Thousands of videos I have watched. And no one tells you how to drain
the water during the winter. Is everyone stupid. I don't understand. How
can you have any confidence on any project if you don't have all the
knowledge to do it. -
Facing NORTH? Oh yea, should have known from the Aussie accent. LOL

Could you not run liquid metal to produce both electricity and hot water?
-
Could you use liquid metal in this set up to make a better system?

What a truly informative video. I am looking to build my own solar heater for my swimming pool here in the UK. I believe that I can raise the temperature of the water with a heater by maybe 4 or more degrees Centigrade. Having watched this video I now feel more than confident in going ahead with Solar Heating. Thank you.

I build a portable solar heater module, first I used a black garden hose., a small 12 Volt pump, and a 12 Volt PhotoVoltaic panel.
Then I changed the hose with a Solar bag 1-2-3.
And changed the PV panel with a 12 Volt Portable folding panel.
One module is about 1,04 kW.

Solar hot water systems produce clean, non-polluting energy. A single hot water system can offset the equivalent of approximately 40% of the carbon dioxide emissions of a modern passenger car. They are safe for our environment, safe for plants, safe for animals and safe for all of us. Get started on your DIY project today at. http://bit.ly/1OEnRQW

There are basically 3 systems to chooses from..superluxclean@gmail.com in South Africa only without extended bullshit as well! we know what we are doing ,ate and love you but weeee dont sell heat exchangers!!

Great effort and video.
I just subscribed.
Thank you !!! -
Nice Video!

Nice video about which is clear how solar water heat can be used in your house! Added this to my Solar Site http://SolarServiceGuy.com Thanks!

After a return visit to Portland Maine, USA where in 2005 my then American importer partner of the then Apricus brand I co designed and developed with an Australian named Mick Humphries showed me his Apricus collectors still working, except for the controller and switching from a closed loop glycol system to a drain back system.
From my 2 weeks in the USA promoting my solar PVT panel system, i returned to the UK, before flying to Switzerland to meet my Swiss partner and visit 4 vegtable farmers seeking an answer to how to grow salad crops during the snow/ski period which started the day we arrived.
What was clearly demonstrated by everybody I spoke with, is none of them understood how a thermal store worked, which can provide hot water at mains pressure, but not with a unvented pressure type hot water tank, that can blow up if allowed to over heat by solar.
14 months ago, I gave my comercial flat pack tank designs to a heat pump importer/reseller in Sth Africa with 33 yrs in heat pump knowledge.
The company was haveing problems with local made tanks, so agreed to a licence to obtain my design, with a key part exported by my company in China to them.
After 14 months, 160 comercial flat pack tanks up to 12,000 litres has been sold and assembled on site heated by heat pumps delivering hot water at mains pressure from a tank of water that has a life of 100 yrs.
We are now able to convert shipping containers into thermal stores heated by an improved heat pipe/tube collector in the depths of winter with not all the costs shown in the video as a closed loop system, with a componant that shuts the solar thermal collector down, thus affecting the gylcol quality which will have no freeze protection affect once heated above 140c
Great video, but there is much more to know once you move out of the mass produced hot water tanks, that were never designed for solar thermal which should be allowed to heat a tank of water at any size to 99c, without forcing shut down. -
You obviously do not know, as you likely hired the production out. I figured it out.
Still like the video though.
