Top 5 Awesome Things About the Webb Telescope
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
The James Webb Space Telescope is the successor to the Hubble's throne. In order to pick up extremely faint infra-red signals from extremely distant stars and galaxies, the JWST has to be extremely cold. Any noise from the IR radiation of the Sun or Earth would make it impossible to see as far into the past as scientists want to. Thus, the JWST has to be a million miles from the earth, protected by a six-layer heat shield as big as a tennis court. This will allow the Webb Telescope to peer into the deepest reaches of space, through clouds of dust into stellar nurseries and back in time 13.4 billion years. Not only will we get the most detailed views of our universe ever, but the JWST will provide insights into how solar systems, galaxies, stars and even the Universe were formed. I got bored of the "comedy" at 55s and had to turn it off. Sorry.

This soccer analogy is trump in goal and Hillary out playing

Agree 100% you say, pity the programme is delayed because it was scheduled to be launched in 2015 and now it is said to be just
(hopefully) for 2018. regards from Argentina -
my 1st VB video was this one ..

If gov't spending on this really, really pisses you off, you can donate to some polio-fighting organization (to help make polio mutherfucking EXTINCT). Then use the tax write-off to deny the gov't some of their tax revenue! Mwa ha! That way you're denying the gov't the portion of your money they'd want to use to build the JWST!

Why not male it to see an extra .3billion years? That way we could see the actual beginning

Not to be nit picky, but you said 3 things, not 5.

I'm lucky enough to work at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. The JWST mirror assembly is being constructed in the building across the street - one of the biggest (if not THE biggest) clean room in the world. I go and stare at it a couple of times a week - he he...nerd wood. Google 'Webb Cam' and see it for yourself - Unbelievably Awesome!

That's mostly how soccer is played.

Interesting thing to note.. Although the JWST will almost certainly not cure malaria, Hubble's mistake with the mirror being positioned the wrong way ended up revolutionizing mammograms. The algorithms that were developed to account for the mistake during the time it took to be fixed were what ended up cross-pollinating into the medical field.

We...we'll actually get to see back almost to the creation of the universe...like, actually see it happening...live. Dear god, that is the most incredible thing I have ever heard in my life.

When is this going up?
-
You didn't say anything clever sir. I'd like to know how will jwst see anything if there are no mirrors or lenses. It will, what I presume, only see in infrared - that is in radio waves. How will it create an image for human eyes?

amazing video :-)

Can the James Webb telescope detect moving creatures if any on the alien earths in other star systems? does it possess such a zooming resolution. please anyone reply.

You sir just got subbed!
