Huge fan of DS9, but Sisko is still a war criminal.

"On Earth, there is no poverty, no crime, no war. You look out the window of Starfleet Headquarters and you see paradise. Well, it's easy to be a saint in paradise, but the Maquis do not live in paradise. Out there in the Demilitarized Zone, all the problems haven't been solved yet. Out there, there are no saints — just people. Angry, scared, determined people who are going to do whatever it takes to survive, whether it meets with Federation approval or not!" -Benjamin Sisko

You don't fuck Sisko. Sisko fucks you.

Out of the blue I watched episodes Way of the Warrior, Inquisition, Visitor, Hard Time and In the Pale Moonlight today and boy this show is so damn amazing. Deep Space Nine just brought it like no other Trek show have. .

HE DID WHAT HAD TO BE DONE!
-
I'm not even going to watch this because Picard was THE BEST captain, PERIOD!!!!!!!

Sisko lied about getting Federation approval for this plan, desolated a planet, and effectively resorted to terrorism to catch one Marquis terrorist; in effect to settle a grudge because up until this point Edington had made a fool out of him.
He might have been necessary, but Sisko was a bit of a monster: very little about him actually extolled Federation values. -
i MUST weight in on something here. Sisko didn't care of getting his hands dirtied if that is what it tooks. at a moment's notice, he would have thrown that SF rules/policy out the nearest airlock.
I just love DS9 over TNG. TNG had great episodes. My problems are that most of them were standalone eps. My other problem was that it was not character-driven. Those 7 TNG actors provided enormous "canvas" to paint from. They achieve this more in DS9. I truly wished they kept going and/or made some movies like they did with TNG. My favorite trek show, followed by the ever-loved TNG! -
this kind of action.. i think captin picard and sisko would disagree. picard would probably order the defiant destroyed before he would let sisko do what he just did.

As nasty as it is this woudl be a "proper" response. When you use weapons like these you must be prepared for them to be used agaisnt you.
For a real world example. After World War I everyone knew how terrible large scale use of Chemical weapons is.
20 years later in World War II nobody used them anymore. Not becasue they would be ineffective or because of international law (Does anyone realy think Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union or Imperial Japan would even care about international law?).
It was simply because everyone knew that the moment they used them, the gloves were off.
Same reason why nobody used a nuclear weapon agaisnt another country since Hiroshima and Nagasaki. -
Yeah, this is Sisko crossing the line...not "badass" so much as "atrocity". There comes a time when you should admit that defeating your enemy isn't worth turning yourself into something worse than him.

sisko realises that Eddington sees himself as the dashing hero, so the only way to stop him is to play the villain. He plays into Eddington's fantasy and forces him to surrender. and he does give them plenty of time to evacuate.

Wow he's a terrible actor and this show sucked. Glad I never gave it a chance! Lol. Next Generation was the only good one.

Other alternatives could've easily been determined. The captain did not stay level headed in this most serious of encounters.
