Michelle Thaller: "if our solar system would be the size of a CD ... the earth would be comparable to the Milky Way. That's huge .." but completely illogical. NASA please explain.
Comparisons are a great way to explain complex properties and relationships. Maybe we can find someone at NASA who has the ability to do just that.
The spiral arms are "density waves", ok. So what causes the rotation of stars around the center of a galaxy. Are they always following density waves or are they pushed away by them. What causes them? All these and many other logical effects are not sufficiently explained. Is there a galactic coreolis effect at work? Is Einstein's "fabric" the reason for gravity? Is there cosmic evolution - and if so - isn't "infinity" in space and "eternity" in time the logical result?
I am aware that infinity is not defined in mathematics, and therefore "forbidden". But 1 divided by an ever smaller value (0.5 ... 0.1 ....0.00001) results in ever larger results and ends at 1/0 = infinity.
The reason why we refuse this logic lies in our human ability to comprehend it and our mathematical ability to process it.
