I don't understand the explanation they give on this video that mass cannot be converted into energy. I learned in school that when you fuse two atoms the mass of the new element is less than the sum of the previous two atoms and the "lost" mass is converted into an enormous amount of energy, like in a fusion bomb (hydrogen bomb) and the sun. Can someone explain?

I'm curious about C squared in the formula. Is it possible that Einstein just needed a giant number and found it convenient to use light speed as the base number? Said another way, is there another consideration why speed of light squared is in this equation other than the fact it contributes a giant number to the formula?

I built a mirror box I got in turned on a flashlight ..
I had trapped light but when I turn off the light the mirrored box went dark. I can try again but could you try trapping light and measure the gravital mass of the box light on/off thanks -

At the instant of the Big Bang, there was no matter at all. So, if energy can't be transformed into matter, where did all the stuff of the universe originate?

Does that clock example meant that energy produces mass?

Then in other episodes they keep talking about mass D: If Space Time is going to use mass as short hand then doesn't the whole "converting mass into energy" also work as short hand for changing potential energy into kinetic energy?
