This album makes me wonder if this is how music seemed to me when I was 3 or 4 years old. Mature, scary, ebullient. Assured, seems to be about something, but also chaotic and menacing.
I have a secret theory that 1974 is one of the coolest years ever. First UPC scanner, Land of the Lost comes on tv, Philip K. Dick's "2-3-74" epiphany and many, many other things. Now this.
Like when you pull paper or fabric around a corner it bunches and slides, but has to pinch or corner somewhere.
The last remnants of the 60s mindset had to pivot around an ugly knothole in the continuum to merge with our contemporary era.
The pinnacle of that awkward transition happened in a furtive psycho-sexual burst that took months to pass, we lost one horizon, to gain sight of another, ... all in 1974. -
HOW MUCH DRUGS???

Fuck me sideways with a raging thetan on Zenu juice. Parts of this be snorting jazzy funkadelia. I mean I came here to laugh my muso ass off at the stupid sci fi tologists. But they musta had a few players on that shitty Apollo boat. I'm up to Summertime now and that's also outrageous. Its not Sarah Vaughn but you'd enjoy this group in a bar... The guitar player/s are struggling to keep up but the horn peeps are pulling out some quality blowage.

I don't care what they believe. This is awesome music.

First 3 tracks (Especially the title track) are rad. The other two are a bit lacking, imo

Imagine all the great jazz-funk hip hop singles that could have sampled this album.... just thinking about the lawsuit backlash that would ensue is making ME nervous. Amazing band regardless of what's behind their sound.

focking hell, i'm drunk and i like

Welp...seems most people agree; Scientology is ridiculous nonsense. But this band is hot!!! Great stuff here people!
-
I think the story was the group rocked peoples socks live but the record wasn't as good. Given modern equipment and digital might have helped. Infectious enthusiasm. Lost my copy moving house, thanks for the listen.

Reminds me Sun Ra.
-
I mean they are Scientologists and stuff but this is pretty dank...
-
Pete Rock needs to sample this.
-
Very disturbing religion. Fucking amazing band!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Came to laugh at Scientologists.
Stayed for the music! -
I may not be into Scientology but, this shit is off the hook.
-
It's like the same instrumental tune extending over 33 minutes with a ginormous drum solo in the middle. Pretty awful stuff.
-
Holy crap! That drum workout at 15 minutes is full on balls out bashing!
-
But don't forget - Scientology is a Science Fiction Religion, created by a Science Fiction Writer. That's all there is to it.
