The Horizon Problem
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
The Horizon problem is a problem within cosmology. I've heard theists (and even some atheists) use it to "disprove" the big bang. Here is my response

So, the universe expanded from a singularity for no known reason and then super expanded to solve the horizon problem for another no known reason?
Couldn't it just be we're wrong about the big bang and this circumstantial evidence is just from interpreting the data wrong? Kind of like how you need GR to be wrong in order for DM/DE to be right, it's just all circular reasoning that leads to no new discoveries. -
The earth was given to the sons of men. The universe has not been granted us.

Isn't beer great? It even solves cosmological problems.

umm... regarding this solution... you said "alan gouth... came up with an absolutely brilliant realization: what if, as the universe cooled, it underwent a phase transition?...". then you showed some cool science with a beer bottle showing matter changing it's state under different pressure and temperature conditions. which i totally dig. good science. then you said "gouth realized...". and then you said "...that solves the horizon problem...". ok... what more is there in the way of supporting this... claim? <basically, that inflation was a similar process as matter changing it's state under certain conditions> i expect some mathematics, physics, chemistry most likely involved? you know, something resembling an equation of some sort? 42? all of the evidence i see so far for the solution to the horizon problem, is brilliant speculation and some good science that may as well have no relation to anything even remotely happening 10 to the minus 30 whatever seconds from a dot exploding into what we like to call, everything... including our egos. peace out and God bless. vote for kennedy! winter is here.

Mental gymnastics.

Neil DeGass Tyson doesn't even understand this problem.

Gotta admit that cosmology is one of my weak areas. Fascinating but totally counter intuitive.
