Venom has become one of the most popular and recognizable characters in Marvel over the last 30+ years. Let's take a look at the history of Venom and how he became a Space Knight. Subscribe here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1oV7pNnLCgbCq0DT8GjNTQ?sub_confirmation=1 ----- The evolution of Venom's symbiote started in 1984. Originally appearing in Amazing Spider-Man #252, the black suit of Spider-Man was really convenient. It could camoflauge itself, allowing him to wear it all the time, and made it easier for him to operate in the shadows unoticed. However, no one at the time knew that it would become one of the most recognizable villains in the history of Marvel comics. After the full debut of Venom in Amazing Spider-Man #300. The character took off like a rocket, and the dominance of the alien symbiote began. Not only was Venom a success on it's own, it's host Eddie Brock became a household name as well, as most people know that the Eddie Brock Venom is the original creation, having even appeared on film. However, more than one person has worn the black symbiote. For a period of time, Scorpion aka Mac Gargan, became Venom and was dominated by the symbiote to the point where it controlled almost all his actions when he was wearing it. This is also the first time we had seen the symbiote really change physical size and become much larger than the user inside. At time, fueled by rage and vengeance, Venom could grow to the size of the Hulk and beyond. After having the symbiote forcefully removed, it was later bonded to Flash Thompson who became Agent Venom. This is where we start to see the struggle between the symbiote and the man inside it. Who will win the battle of wills? The war gets worse as Venom joins up with the Guardians of the Galaxy and heads off into space. This is where Brian Michael Bendis not only changes the origin of Venom, and the Klyntar species itself, but builds Flash Thompson and Venom into something different, and that is an agent of the cosmos. Now that Flash can hear the call of the cosmos, he becomes Venom Space Knight and travels around the galaxy solving problems and making space a better place. Unfortunately that is not meant to last, as somehow the Venom symbiote has been removed from Flash Thompson and now finds it on it's new host, Lee Price. Who is Lee Price? We don't really know much about him, but as an ex-Army Ranger he has the discipline of a soldier, extensive training in combat and isn't worried about a few dead bodies along the way. What does this mean for the newly reformed cosmic protector? We'll find out soon. Weekly One Shot is a once a week show where we tackle a bigger topic regarding comics. From crossover events to cancelations to movie adaptations, it will go over anything in comics. ----- Follow on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DetailComics/ Catch up on Twitter: https://twitter.com/EvolutionOfStan

awesome video!!!

Nice video but I have to say you missed a big chunk of Venom's history. Venom/Eddie had their own comic. It was one limited series after another but it went on for years. My opinion is you need Eddie and the symbiote to get Venom. It's like the Hulk, their lot's of Hulk's and different people have been a Hulk but Bruce Banner is the Hulk. Agent Venom was cool and this new one might be cool but I miss the real (Eddie Brock) Venom.

What r ur thought on the symbiote and it's evelition through the years

I find myself missing the old Eddie Brock Venom. For me that was the best version of the character. Insidious, fanatical in their hatred of Spider-Man they'd use their knowledge of Peter's secret identity to really get under his skin by breaking into his home to scare Mary Jane, stalk Peter knowing full well that his Spider-Sense can't pick up the Symbiote. There was a point where the Brock Venom nearly killed Black Cat in a rage while looking for Spidey. Mac Gargan was a cool host for the symbiote as well but I totally lost interest in the character during the Flash Thompson era. Here's hoping that this new guy brings Venom back to his villainous roots.

I don't know if I would say that you forgot something important, since I'm not entirely sure of its canon-icity.
The prior host to the Venom Symbiote before Spiderman was... Deadpool. In Deadpool's Secret Wars, due to the nature of Deadpool, being cursed to not being able to join death, the Inversions of the multiverse occurring, the Death of Deadpool, and Dr. Doom creating his own Secret Wars event; Deadpool is actually shot backwards in time to the first Secret Wars. It is here that Deadpool is actually bonded to the Symbiote suit before Spiderman. Though not prolonged, it may help explain some of Venom's tendencies. -
hey, Stan (love your show, by the way, keep it up!) I just wanna ask you, how good is Titans? I already want to read it, but I want to know if it is really worth it to start a new series. to give you context; I read/loved, tom king's batman, champions, the vision, amazing spiderman, DC universe rebirth (really want to know where that goes), seven to eternity and stuff like that.
It'd be awesome if you could help me out. -
Wow, Venom's been on a journey. A lot of crazy twists and turns that I wouldn't have taken but that ended up working out great. Only thing I'm still iffy on is the symbiotes ability to take hominoid form. Kinda feels like a lazy way of making him for relatable by making him look like a person instead of a glob of sentient goo

Well done Stan!! I haven't followed Venom so it was a nice overview. I think my favorite is the ridiculous paper-bag Venom....too funny!!!

Bro you're blowing up!! Congrats first of all. Secondly, absolutely love this series still wish you would give specific issues regarding certain things. First space venom, first mania etc. but you're amazing so I'm just gonna shut up and watch. Lol. Keep up the awesome work bro

The Venom in the Ultimate universe is so bad ass right now. He's enormous and intimidating. I like this particular version because he has some humor about it while retaining the bloodlust and ruthlessness.
