The cosmic distance scale Part 1: The terrestrial planets
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
This is a scale of our solar system scaled down about 100,000 times. The sun is represented by an 8 inch Denver Nuggets basketball. All of the planets are scaled down about 100,000 times. This was filmed in Washington Park in Denver Colorado.

listen man if you scaled down the sun 100000 times it would still be over 10 times bigger than that of earth so your theory is far off. nice try though..

HKragh is correct. Are you saying the entire earth is 100,000 times bigger then a peppercorn? Think about that a little bit...

Somethings wrong here. That ball is not a 1:100.000 size of our sun. That would mean our sun was around 12.7 miles in diameter. Which is very far from the truth. Then you say mercury is 322 miles wide? It's 3049 miles wide. It's like you miss zeros here and there... The real scale, when only looking at the sun in relation to your ball, is more like 1:6.700.000.000 (6.7 billion) Cool project, but you need to research a little deeper :)
