[TESLORE] The Elder Scrolls #1: Intro to the Lore Community, The Meta, Kirkbride & C0DA
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
This series on Soundcloud ►http://bit.ly/lore_podcast News/Updates ►https://twitter.com/zaric This isn't really the first episode, this is a pre-episode in order to explain what Elder Scrolls Lore is for those who don't understand. Future episodes WILL be proper lore presentations, this episode is not. ---- This series will be a bunch of podcasts with moving pictures that basically explain various aspects of Elder Scrolls Lore within the purview of my own headcannon. Episode 1 explains the Lore Community itself and how Elder Scrolls Lore works; it's very different from other game franchisees like Darksouls and Dragon Age. Things like how things are pronounced, as well as the omission of certain Out of Game and ESO lore sources will be done at my discretion. The likelihood of what I discuss here coming into conflict with a lore-master is extremely high. It's also very likely that comments pointing these things out will be summarily deleted. Not to say I don't want discussion, I just recommend watching episode 1 before commenting: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QGEQeuu_Hrk it will help you come to understand what is and isn't on the table. Oh, and for search tables: Coda makes it cannon C0DA Makes it cannon ---- Elder Scrolls Lore Links: *Bethesda Lore Forums ► http://forums.bethsoft.com/forum/16-elder-scrolls-lore/ *The Imperial Library ►http://www.imperial-library.info/ *TES Lore Subreddit ► https://www.reddit.com/r/teslore/ *Unoffical Elder Scrolls Pages ►http://www.uesp.net/ *Elder Scrolls Unoffical Wiki ►http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/ ---- Channel Links: Support the Channel ►https://www.patreon.com/zhakaron Twitter ►https://twitter.com/zaric Facebook ► http://facebook.com/zariczhakaron Reddit ► http://reddit.com/r/zhakaron Ask.FM ►http://ask.fm/zhakaron Soundcloud ► https://soundcloud.com/zhakaron Steam Group ► http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Burvine Website Resources ► http://www.zhakaron.com

More Lore Please Zaric!!!!

lol Lore based on the lore and the community hahaha Elder Scrolls is the freaking best! xD
One day, after mantling long enough, you can ascend to Lore Masterhood - the one everyone would speak of more fondly and enjoy more due to your entertainer background (In a similar fashion to Talos - but in a lesser state in the real world, as it's only Lore Master status and not god xD). -
C0DA didn't make everything canon. It just reminded us that Bethesda did.
-
It's as if people just can't be comfortable with a lack of absolutes in lore. When I speculate on lore, thats exactly what I am doing- speculating. Taking given in-game lore and applying it in logical ways and undergoing assumptions that I feel are believable or even likely of Bethesda to create. Until these "believable speculations" are credited and confirmed in-game, they are just that, believable speculations. People need to stop seeking so much validation for their interpretations of lore as it seems those people are losing the very point and fun of speculating on TES lore!
Personally my largest goal in lore is predicting what things might happen in upcoming games, which tends to leave me a very narrow breadth of 100% confirmed in-game predictions- and while I will make many assumptions according to these in-game hints, it seems entirely ludicrous to act like all of my assumptions are suddenly and truly anything more than unproven speculation. I honestly don't know how those C0DA folks do it, convincing themselves that their conjecture is fact. -
So it's all a giant lie? Everything that I played is false? The snow elves aren't gone? WHAT IS REAL? OMG
-
WELL LORE'D MY N'WAH

Michael Kirkbride HAD to have been high when writing a bunch of the stuff he put in the C0DA. It's absurd, but it sort of works.
-
The lore of the Elder Scrolls is like the story of the Six Blind Men and the Elephant. On steroids.
-
I personally enjoy the smaller amount of lore found inside the games. That to me seems more realistic. It's more broken up, more like real world history where things aren't easily found. I enjoy that quite a bit, and it helps me "get in character" easier. I started playing in Oblivion and was hooked. I looked into the lore in game. Only recently have I been interested in going outside the games for a deeper understanding of these games I so love. So after that babble I say "Thank you" for the info on lore. And for the videos you produce.

its spelled canon

I actually thought I had pretty good knowledge on the lore, as people I've interacted with basically had no idea what they were talking about, but little did I know that I was the same. I did not know that there was more to it then a read in uesp during a study period at school, but I am glad that I watched this. I really want to get into the lore but I want to be as closely accurate as I can be so this is a worthy 20 minutes of watching to get me started. You have a new sub.

But Dark Souls lore is primarily fan interpretation of vague hints in item descriptions, how can you call it cut and dry?
-
Such an arrogance those rats of Imperial Library call themselves "LoreMasters" and those who don't read or don't know about Michael Kirkbride books are called babies, newbies or something like that. If the game not show to us the whole story is for a purpose (like Dark Souls), no need to someone like MK explain the rest or the blank spaces of the story. The fact that Heimskr speech was created by MK doesn't mean that is real, Heimskr could be only a crazy man with deductions. C0DA and MK writings still fanfictions for me. Kudos for you Zaric to make a great ES content. Unfortunately, for me, MK followers are cancer to the ES community :(

It's funny that you know so much about the lore (and I don't say this in jest) but you still can't say Nerevarine.
-
I quite enjoyed the two TES books but the first one in particular was littered with spelling errors (I am ignoring US/UK differences here, too, otherwise there'd be much more).
-
This is the first ive heard of spaceships and metaphysics. Is it worth going down this rabbithole? I just did the disappearance of the dwarfs quest in morrowind for the first time and the metaphysics is super interesting but very confusing. I just read about the towers and the wheel, its very confusing. Is there a anygood place to start or is this where everything becomes subjective C0DA shit? Should I just jump into the subreddit?
-
"LoreMasters" That is an amazing name. It sounds like something that would come out of the actual games.
-
