Tesla Model S Autopilot (Autopark) Space Testing
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Please be kind, my video editing skills are nonexistent. The car parked itself three times in progressively smaller spaces. My super scientific measuring method (holding a 12" ruler up in the air) tells me the first space probably had 8 extra feet. The second space had more than 5 extra feet and the final space had slightly more than 4 feet of space to spare. Note: Parking is on 2x time lapse while getting out and starting over again is on 8x.

Most other videos demo it in easy situations only, so this is good to see! :)

Great video, Jen! I am finding that Autopark is one of the most solid of all the Autopilot features. It just nails it every time, even in tight spaces. One question: it seems to snug up to the car ahead so that the gap in the front is the same regardless of the overall space in the parking slot. Is that what your measurements show? Thanks for doing your experiment!

There is no doubt that many humans could do parallel parking quite well. But few humans could do it as tight and this, and nail it everytime :) fun experiment! thanks
