TEDxBoulder - Thad Roberts - Visualizing Eleven Dimensions
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
In this talk Thad Roberts reveals a theory that could prove to be the key in simplification of the various complexities of quantum mechanics, space, and time.

Ok you got first 3 dimensions, then you got time as 4th but what about Temperature? is that not a dimension? You can change temperature without changing those first 4 dimensions.
-
Though the light is no longer visible to the flatlanders, the ball that created it still exists outside their dimensions. What if what we observe is only a fraction of an object in a small frame of time? The object always exists, but we are limited by time and space in when we can observe it.
-
No math, no physical theory. It sounds good but without the proper mathematical frame there is nothing except a nice spiel. Check the website, no math; search the Internet, no math.
"Intuition" don't buy you dinner bro. -
That was so simply and elegantly put that even I got it.
-
but what happens when we zoom in on a space quantum/particle thing
-
Probably means the LHC was a waste of money..
-
I held on for about halfway through, then I got flung off into the abyss of ignorance
-
Ofcourse space is a thing. If it was just "empty space" it wouldn't be anything, as in it would be nothing and therefor be unable to exist. Things that don't exist can't contain things, let alone things that exist, like particles.
-
What a Beautiful narration,
-
All I hear is the spit sloshing around in this guy's mouth.
-
Now work out the math and do some predictions or else it's just vague words. Actually loop quantum gravity quantizes space in a mathematically rigorous way but it is not yet a complete and satisfactory theory.
-
I guess I missed something but one the explination of 9 dimensions seemed like the same 3 from different points of reference. also the explication of temperature changing phases seems a bit watered down. since temperature has, to me, more to be a result of vibrational change. just seems like alot of broad generalizations. of course I'm no professional physicist. just seems like alot isn't accounted for.
-
Is the theory of an expansive universe now being questioned? If the red shift could be appearing for other reasons.
-
My only regret after watching this talk is that I can't 'like' this twice
-
So what you're saying is that this is the theory of everything? You got spacetime connected with quantum physics. Which is what the scientists are looking for right now. That would be a major break through.
-
And what is this theory? Where can i find a mathematical formulation of it? Because on the website there is a document with precisely zero information on it, in which there is no theory, but a bunch of nonsense glued together by shaky words. What quantitative predictions does this theory make? You say it explains dark matter and quantum mechanics, but there are datas that already exclude this theory as explanation, such as the bullet cluster for dark matter.
Also, it is well known since the mid 60s, by the Bells inequalities, that deterministic theories with hidden variables cannot reproduce the randomness of quantum mechanics. You theory has hidden dimensions and is deterministic, and as such fall in this cathegory. I cannot explain quantum theory, as you claim. -
Wow I love this guy. He's so easy to understand, and humble too.
-
this was the most unprepared ted talk I've ever seen. I'm sure he's a hard working, educated scientist... but holy fuck I cringed watching this... despite some interesting notions.
-
I thought the current consensus was that space was smooth. Not quantised.
