http://www.teachastronomy.com/ Cosmology is the study of the universe, its history, and everything in it. It comes from the Greek root of the word cosmos for order and harmony which reflected the Greek belief that the universe was a harmonious entity where everything worked in concert to produce a beautiful whole. The scientific method is challenged by the study of the entire universe. We only have one object to study. We cannot travel any distance in it, and we are trapped in time and space. In a sense it's amazing that creatures as small and frail as humans can comprehend the cosmos at all, and the study of cosmology is one of the greatest human achievements.
