Chichén Itzá, renown as one of the "New Seven Wonders of the World" (declared in 2007), is visited by an estimated 1.2 million tourists annually. This ancient temple site is an epicentre for Mayan cosmology, and will be a key location due to the synchronous alignment of the El Castillo step pyramid (also known as the Temple of Kukulkan/Quetzalcoatl), our sun, and entire solar system with the center of the Milky Way galaxy (Hunab Ku).
