Sun, Earth, Moon animation
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Simple animation of the sun, earth and moon moving around each other. ***UPDATED: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QcgDiF1a14, for those bothered by the earth's rotation being too slow relative to the time it takes the earth to go around the sun.

wow people these days
-
This is really really wrong.
-
Nasa means to deceive in hebrew, they only make cartoons.
-
sup
-
if it like this , See , earth will experience the shadow of the moon visibily ...what the fuck is science
-
This is painfully inaccurate.
-
The moon is moving faster than the earth. How did we land on it?
-
According to this video, there should be multiple total solar eclipses each year.
-
This animation is very poor, the moon should orbit the earth 12 times per cycle (12months per 1year): where as in this animation there is only 10 lunar rotations. The earth would also be rotating at a much faster rate, this video duration is 20 seconds and illustrates 1 year, we should see aprox 18 rotations a second

I don't know
-
this is so useless and crappy
-
If only this depiction were true...lol
-
Ah! That explains it then. I stand corrected! Thank you for the response...(I really hate being wrong. LOL!)
-
How did you make this? I'm trying to make a 2D version of the same system. The problem is that the Moon stops spinning around the Earth .. I'm using Adobe After Effects .. Do reply..
-
Lol, Good logic.
-
It's an ANIMATION!!!! What is wrong with people? Great job Phystv helping to illustrate
-
Too slow? The video is 21 seconds long and it takes the earth 24 hours to spin 360 degrees...
-
Janez, you mean 'too slow'. 'To' is a different word and means something else. Re the animation, a nice try, but the elipse marked out by the Earth is huge, and the scale of this is rather lost here as the Earth looks half the size of the sun as it disappears behind it. In reality, it would be a remote speck around at least 186 million miles away at this point. I''m sure you could make this even better. Best wishes.
-
The earth rotates 27.3 times faster than the moon. Plus the scale of this animation is way off
-
Great. Someone is going to unteach this nonsense. Can we at least put the moon in a proper orbit so were not showing daily eclipses?
