Stellar capture by a supermassive black hole

Dense clusters of millions of stars are often found at the centers of galaxies. Swinburne Astronomers present this animation to show the fate of some of these stars which venture too close to the cluster's central supermassive black hole. http://www.research.swinburne.edu.au

What happens to Dark Matter near a Black Hole and does that make the black hole grow faster than you would expect if you were only counting normal matter?
