I love all the Star Trek TV series, but of the 6 Star Trek TV series, and yes there were 6 not 5, DS9 is my favorite.

TOS: Amazing but that's probs just my nostalgia
TNG: Best start Trek series
Voyager: Slow start and weird ending but overall great
Enterprise: Shows get cancelled for a reason
DS9: Not as good as Voyager, TNG and TOS but still enjoyable -
I'm a sucker for space scenes, and I have to say, that Season 5 finale scene where the Federation and Klingon converge for an offensive was THE scene for me. I still watch it every now and then still, and to this day, that scene still gives me goose bumps.

I have to disagree with the analysis of the Kira/Odo relationship. It was always made clear that Kira was almost (if not always) unshakable in her core beliefs. Her foundation was so solid that the very concept of Odo being seen as a different or rival god to her own by other cultures just didn't register with her. Odo was her colleague, friend, comrade and lover.

DS9 is my favorite Trek but I agree the show is definitely flawed. The intellectual follow-through and arcs aren't perfectly executed (as said a problem also with BSG). That being said what I like best about DS9 were the side characters Garak, Quark, Dukat, and the O'Brian-Bashir relationship.
But I'm curious, what shows do you guys feel do emotionally and intellectually payoff? Where the arcs are close to perfectly executed and you enjoyed it? -
I disagree with the analysis on Sisko., There were episodes as early on that showed his progress on the Bajoran religion. I'd have to go back to find the exact episodes, but to say that Sisko at the last second embraced being the emissary is just wrong. The scene were that Fed Admiral confronted Sisko about where he stands, Sisko clearly meant that he's both the emissary and a federation officer. but since the feds were at war, admiral was concerned and wanted Sisko to choose. I'm pretty sure there was some direct dialog somewhere in the series. Sisko also was willing to sacrifice his life to get signs from the future. The whole premise of that analysis is faulty, imo.

I love DS9, my favorite scifi/trek. Watching it during the first run was very exciting anticipating the next episode. Though I really hate Odo now, especially since I now know what type of person Odo is, plus he only cared about himself, his people and Kira, the whole world could burn and he'd be ok with it..

Like your review on DS9. Curious about what you thoughts are on Stargate SG1 and that franchise?

DS9 was/is my favorite Trek series.
TNG had some lulls, Voyager had a rocky ending, and Enterprise had a slow start.
I think Kira's stubbornness was Star Trek keeping in line with their criticism of religion. She was too stubborn/blindly faithful to change her views.
And when I watched, I kinda felt like Sisko just gave up and gave in because he felt helpless. But maybe I should rewatch it.
If you haven't watched Farscape, it's another awesome sci fi series and it's my favorite sci fi show of all time! -
Love TNG and DS9. Voyager is okay though. Will be interesting to see your final thoughts on that series.

I did enjoy DS9 except the last episode. That Pawraith story line was ridiculous and the "Coastamojin" nonsense? Ugh! I don't think they handled Cisko very well either. He just left? As dedicated as he was to his son and then his new wife I don't think he would have been ok with essentially pulling a Dave Bowman as in 2010: A Space Odyssey.
That said, Voyager really started to pick up when they introduced the Borg and Seven of Nine joined the crew. I always felt it was a great crew and enjoyed their interactions as they grew to rely and know each other. I was never once put out by the "shortcut home" storylines because I liked, with the exception of B'Lana Torres, the entire crew. The show had so many good episodes that I won't spoil here but I will say I am looking forward to hearing your review. -
I tend to agree with the criticism of Moore's setups. He's a great writer, but indeed many of the situations he sets up get resolved or shift too quickly.
In fairnes though, they did make the transition begin before the end of season 7. As I recall, it starts during season 6. -
Ah... glad you took it back.
It was indeed a great show :) I hope you enjoy Voyager too, and BSG (the new one).
Dax was my favorite character, personally. -
How could he have ever said deep space nine was bad, Voyager and enterprise are true rubbish
