NOVA PBS: http://www.pbs.org/nova Top-secret documents rewrite the history of the famous satellite and the early space race. On October 4, 1957, the Space Age dawned with the red hue of the Communist flag when the Soviet Union launched the first artificial satellite. Sputnik I stunned the world and spurred a surge in science education and innovation that changed our world forever. But was Sputnik I really a shock to America's leaders, and how close was the U.S. to getting into space first? NOVA draws on previously classified documents to tell the real story behind the opening chapter in the space race. Video is very interesting, despite the fact it was supposed regarding CCCP and Sputnik. If I would ear talking about "good" americans and "bad stupid Russian" I would look for some video other than that.
-
wondering if the creater of the robot did he fallout?😂😂 cause there a robot in that game that looks exactly like Sputnik

Always looking for good space history documentaries. Subscribed to follow your channel. Hope you'll do the same on my channel.

Typical americans. When they win, its USA USA WE ARE THE BEST, Y'ALL LOSERS" and when they loose its "We were actually ahead but chose not to show it / do it coz we are so modest" Yea rite. Just admit that sometimes others are better than you are.

Wow! I can order this VHS program for $24.95. What a great deal.
-
i think there needs to be more about the sputnik and less about America
-
Although I would've liked higher resolution, the fact that you gave an honest date (2007) rather than claiming a NEW 2016 documentary, is worth a THANK YOU and a thumbs up vote. Thanks for posting. :-)

Enjoy a documentary about sputnik.
75% of the documentary is spent talking about America, 10% about Germany and rest not about sputnik. -
"Spûtnik". lol Jeez at least pronounce it correctly...

First Sputnik, then orbiting animals, then Yuri Gagarin. Let's give the Russians credit for their achievements and quit grousing about what we could have done. I stopped watching this video after 6 minutes. Pfff.

The legal issue had already been established by the Soviet public announcement that they were going to orbit a satellite 3 years before they did - as a lawyer, I can assure you that that public announcement shows that Eisenhower's real reason had nothing to do with "establishing" an international precedent concerning "over flights in space".
-
Eisenhower was lucky to be the general at the top with the industrial power of the U.S. Any fool can figure that out. If I were Von Braun I would have been registered a Democrat and supported Kennedy in 1957 and made it public then.
-
Any anti-German politics? So obvious!

Well IKE was the Supreme allied commander of the euripian theater and a general. When somone then he understood the impaortance of secresy. He knew almost evry secret information of the allies and used it wisley. Of course he took those and the space program secrets to the grave.

I thought I was about to see a documentary about the Sputnik. Instead I watched an hour of glorifying the US. Not even able to admit USSR was ahead in the space race for a long time. If Koroljov didn't die in 1966, russian would have been on the moon before the americans (or should i say the nazis?).
From now on I will only watch the neutral BBC documentaries :) -

I am the one who put up Sputnik named by a dumb ass marine from Camp Pedlton California to Scottsdale Az. The asshole ask what is that in your hand and what are you doing? Oh its just radio control set I'm just repositioning one of my rusty old satellites. RUSSIAN OWENED SATELITES he shouts I laugh spill my drink oops got spit on my neck. RUSSIAN IWENED SATALITE NAME SPUTNECK, he shouts to 2 reporters says hurry get out on radio before they silence us with an atomic bomb.
Two weeks go by the a raid by Russian embassy diplomatics screaming their heads off we trace the rumor to here we go take you out without trial and shoot you for warmongering trying start WWIII -
