SpaceX released a video today -- revealing how they plan to send people to Mars! It's called the Interplanetary Transport System. The ITS is a spaceship and rocket combination. Liftoff requires 28 million 730 thousand pounds of thrust. ITS is 39 feet wide and 400 feet tall. The simulation video you see here was released less than an hour before SpaceX CEO Elon Musk was scheduled to talk about the system at the International Astronautical Conference in Guadalajara, Mexico. This is how ITS works...the rocket booster detaches itself deploying a spaceship. Meanwhile, the booster heads back to Earth...and then lands back at the launchpad. A propellant tanker is loaded onto the booster and launches back into Space where it refuels the spaceship. The tanker heads back to Earth for the next launch...as the spaceship prepares for its journey to Mars. Once fueled up, the spaceship deploys solar panels that look like fins... and within a few months passengers make it to Mars!
