well, tons of metal, rocket fuel, and electronics will forever be remembered at the bottom of the ocean
-
Still amazing accomplishment.

Wow!! they almost did it!! that is hella close!! all engineers should be highfiving and be proud. but then get back to work you plebs and figure out what went wrong!
WHOO HOO!! GO SPACE X!! -
All nations have their heroes (Mr. Musk) and their idiots (little Bush). Greetings from Turkey!

To all you horizontal people. They need the rocket to land so it is ready to relaunch without needing extra equipment to prep it. Like if you land on Mars there isn't a prefabricated pad or additional equipment there to get it ready to relaunch. If we can't figure this out, the first humans on Mars will never have a chance to come back home.

Looks like a classic case of trying to be too precise. It's coming in too hot. Burn some more fuel.
-
glan iwasnt on it
-
It will be done next time! Thanks for SpaceX's effort.

Close, but no cigar.
-
Very clever technology. Just few tweaks and they got it right.
-
They need to use my antigravity device... now where did I put that thing?

The Government foolishly had NASA give away the rights for Billions of dollars in innovations to corporations for free. The Government sells other surplus items at auction, the most valuable of NASA Crown Jewels were given away.
NASA produced real value and could have used licensed item income to pay for projects such as a colony on the Moon, instead we haven't gone back to the Moon in over 40 years.
The one branch of the Government that actually produced a profit gave it all away.
Well actually there is one other government program that produces very large profits while students are burdened by debts for decades in many cases, that is the student loan program. In this case they should give up the profit by lowering interest on loans or even use it for grants to students as an investment in the future of the country. -
for everyone bitching about this being a waste of tax funds, this was developed by spacex, a private company funded by one guy. calm your tits.

Wtf?!
-
It came down very smooth, I think if they had an extended arms to grab the rocked as it came down to prevent it from tipping over, it would do the job. IMHO
-
They Should of Modeled the Barge Like The Pin Point Impression Toy, Do u guys remeber That Toy??
-
Awesome!! This Just Shows that with dedication and hard work anything is possible I love watching this type of Videos Over and Over Again. Perhaps they should of Magnetized The Barge, Or Added for lack of words Fingers to each corner of the Barge thus when the Rocket Nears the Landing the Fingers can cradle it and secure it. or a magnetic Net...
-
It was so frustrating to watch that.
-
The hardware's all there, but they need to work on their autopiloting software.
-
How about using a cup/cylindrically shaped landing pad where a large part of the rocket fits into to stabilize it
