Spaceship battle in the Atmosphere. Programs used Lightwave (main program) Blender After Effects All models, textures, animations, and effects were done by me. Except for the sound effects which I gathered and put together. It took about a year to make, of almost constantly working. I did not keep track of render time so I can't say how long it took.

The trope of large spaceship engagements with fighters is the mutated child of WWII footage of naval battles. The tactical value of small fighter aircraft is their ability to rapidly scout out and engage ships over the horizon with bombs. In 3D space the concept of a horizon isn't of much use, you can see and engage bogeys even at extreme distance. So small ships become a turkey shoot.

How do the ships stay afloat in atmosphere? They are not in space where there's no strong gravity.
