Spaceballs is a 1987 American parody film co-written and directed by Mel Brooks and starring Brooks, Bill Pullman, John Candy and Rick Moranis. It also features Daphne Zuniga, Dick Van Patten, and the voice of Joan Rivers. It was released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer on June 24, 1987, and was met with a mixed reception. It later became a cult classic[3] on video and one of Brooks's most popular films. Its plot and characters parody the original Star Wars trilogy, as well as other sci-fi franchises including Star Trek, Alien, and the Planet of the Apes films.

I really don't get the "You don't really intend to" scene in bed. It just looks like a rape. Is it supposed to be funny?
-
I LOVE Spaceballs, but the animated series should never have happened. Ugh, what a disgrace. Loved that they got Mel Brooks and Daphne Z back though. Was nice hearing their voices again as they portrayed their characters.

way way way better than The Nutshack
-
i already saw the theme and im like no the original movies good and funny but no

Young President looks a bit like James Woods as a little kid! PS
Crybaby's Mum: Oh Pamie... I...should've...worn...a....helmet. (dies)
Plus
Outlet Mall: YOU SHOULD OF WORN A HELMET!!!
Young President: I will abolish Taxes!
Pamie: Texas?
Young President: TAXES TAXES!!
(Flashback ends)
Older President: Come on back to my office. We got a lot of work filing the new taxes.
Dark Helmet: Texas?
Older President: What Texas? TAXES TAXES!! C'mon. (leaves)
Dark Helmet: (puts on his helmet) Oh right! (face shield is down) -
Anyone know where I can find the pilot episode?
-
Is Mel Brooks providing the voice of Young President Skroob too, or is it someone else?
-
Shit animation.

@11:20 Their parody for the 'dark side' is the schvartze side of the force? Did I hear that correctly? Schvartze is Yiddish slang for a black person, not on the same level as the n-word but still considered offensive (I think they're pronouncing the word different from how I know it but what else could they be saying?)
BTW the credits for this show has more jewish names than Schindler's list :) -
I wonder if Brooks did any actual writing on this beyond the theme song. I don't understand why he hasn't made a movie in over 20 years, this might be the last thing he did (when was the young frakenstien play?)
-
Is that supposed to be a Darth Maul parody. When was this made?
-
Is this canon?

So the only returning actors other than Mel Brooks is Vespa and Dot?
if half the cast from the original movie didn't agree to this, how did Mel think this was gonna work? -
The name Harley Van Patten is interesting. The father of Vespa, King Roland, was played by Dick Van Patten in the Spaceballs movie. The only famous character named Harley is Harley Quinn, which was originated in the 90s animated version of Batman. The actor playing Harley's boss and spouse (The Joker, of course) was Mark Hamill. I wonder if that's why Mel chose the name Harley. No doubt that's why he chose the name Van Patten.

Oh god that was awful. Don't watch it.

I wonder why the "Down Side of the Schwartz" is known as the "Schvartz Side of the Schwartz" instead? Definitely an inconsistency with the original Spaceballs.
Furthermore, those whom known the "Schvartz Side of the Schwartz" never used "Force Choke" spells like Outlet Mall, the Darth Maul wannabe, but tend to zap their victims in the groin on those whom fail their missions like Dark Helmet did in the original Spaceballs. -
Too bad it doesn't explain how Pannakin "Dark Helmet" Crybaby became Lone Starr's "Father's, Brother's, Nephew's, Cousin's" former room mate.
-
Wait...so Vesba is Helmet's daughter? So Lonestar is f#$king Helmet's daughter?......HAHAHAHAHAHA THIS SERIES IS FREAKIN SWEET.

A minute in and I already hate it. The theme song is bad, I already knew about the animation being bad and the jokes aren't funny. Why did Mel make this? Oh that's right. The search for more money.

This show is just awful. What was Mel Brooks thinking when he had a hand in making this?
