I live in Florida and have Solar setup to run various things in my home, AND a CB radio and ham radio on my desk which are on 24/7. It is Dec 27, 2016 and I have not seen anything new hitting my Solar panels, NOR anything unusual in Radio propagations at this time. If any unusual solar event were to happen the Solar panels and the Radio setups WOULD be the first devices to see them...
It has been around 80 degrees this last week and during Christmas and I see no really unusual weather patterns this last week here in NE Florida. Obviously I DO monitor such events as the weather and space events DO have effects on my off grid equipment. A learned radio operator CAN HEAR space events over the radio as they happen ya know :) -

I was a kid living in eastern Massachusetts when a neighbor called us out of the house to see the northern lights one early spring evening. Such an awesome sight so far south was quite a phenomenon.
