Space Station Live: The Stuff of Meteors
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
NASA Commentator Dan Huot talks with Michael Fortenberry of the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas, the developer of the Meteor experiment flying to the International Space Station on the next Cygnus cargo ship. Once set up in the station’s Windows Observational Research Facility (WORF) in the Destiny module, the Meteor camera equipped with a series of filters will observe meteor showers and take spectral measurements that can reveal the chemical makeup of the meteors and improve our understanding of how the planets developed.
