Back when America was still great.. looking forward to a return to the good old days!

Someone needs to tell Bruce that the Enterprise was never intended for spaceflight.

I remember watching TV that summer and the two events that stand out were the Approach and Landing Test for Enterprise. Our local CBS affiliate broke in to bring us coverage. Then about a week later the TV interrupted programming to bring the news that Elvis had died in Memphis. I was much more excited about the Shuttle flight and our future in exploring space. I just felt sad for Elvis and his family. That's how my 9 year-old mind worked.

Richard Wagner described it perfectly, Actors getting ready to take the stage, and then on to scene number 2. Lol! Nail on the Head, Dick, NAIL ON THE HEAD!!!

Manned Interplanetary travel is decades away. But we're getting there.
-
Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no man has gone before.
-
The Enterprise, in my opinion the best possible name for a spacecraft that is such a milestone in human space travel. I just can't wait until we get a spacecraft just like the Enterprise in Star Trek. Might not look the same, but the ability to criss-cross the galaxy with ease is just an amazing thought, and that's what I hope we'll achieve in the future. I just hope I'm still around when it happens.

the commercials are awesome, lol.

I love the commercials! I was only 4 then but I remember some of them. I guess they used the same commercials for several years.
