I lived in Lubbock at the time. i remember hearing the strangest BOOM sound and had no idea where it came from until shortly after that they were talking about it on the news. I remember thinking "holy shit....I just heard them die".

Three pounds of ice, and you're dead. :-(

Perhaps NASA would like to explain why the video footage taken form the International Space Station has been left out. Oh, did they forget to mention that the Columbia Space shuttle was being used for a spy mission over Russia at the time. That was no accident. Did somebody say bogie? I'm not the only one who remembers.

I heard that NASA predicted this would happen, because they knew of the problem, but they chose not to tell the crew members. They made a good choice, I mean would you really want to tell a crew that they are inevitably going to die upon reentry.

Astronauts have to undergo atleast one year of basic training and one year of advanced training of just learning how equipment opperates and their uses before they can be qualified to train for specific roles or tasks. Depending on the task, astronauts will have to undergo up to 3 years of additional training just to get them on the selection list to be on the next mission. After an astronaut is selected for a mission they will have to prove that they can perform tasks as a unit instead of as an individual, spending months in training along with their future crew members. In this time, the crew can be subjected to G-force exersises in jets, EVA situations in the NBL, and rigorous physical and psychological preperation for their time in space. The astronauts have to prepare to work in difficult situations and under constant stress.
Years of devotion, preparation, and training... all lost in under a second. -
You know what's terrible? Recently a show came out telling that NASA knew this would happen- and they had a choice. tell them they would die, or let them die unknowing.
-
I remember seeing pieces of debris overhead in Houston, Texas that day.

The reactions seen at around 6:40 tell everything.

A tragic event but an example of the wasteful and generally useless almost now defunct space program. People are starving in our great country. The technology from the space program is mostly still in the hands of the government and we all realize that the government is out of control.

Jews did it

I remember watching this when it happened when I was a kid :,(

we've lost 17 people in the American space program. The Russians lost a lot more.
