Space Quest 1 music and sound on the Apple IIgs, part 1
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
Compared to the first King's Quest game, the first Space Quest game does not have much in the way of interesting music or sound effects. Nonetheless, there are a couple of interesting things to hear here.

You could take the vox files and load them into like the Sonic Blaster program and get some of the sfx. Don't recall the music being available though.

I reversed the alien speech from the hologram just now... it sounds like it's saying "I'm John Lennon" :S
-
I remember playing this EGA on one of my Tandy's waaay back in the day, and it sounded a LOT different..

damn i love going on these trips back in time.. space quest rocked !!

I always used the spider droid to kill the monster in the cave. Never knew water did the trick! The sounds are great, much better than internal PC speakers when I played. I'll have to checkout the text based game that inspired SQ. Is it mostly story that is similar? What about puzzles? Thanks, LateBlt! I enjoy you and your girlfriend's Sierra Let's Play. It's fun!

Great to see someone recognizing the IIGS's unique soundtracks for its games.

Wow...those sounds are WAAAY different than what they put on the Tandy version. The alien "voice" was this weird synth "bwubba-buh buh buh" kind of track.
-
Yay for Synth Voices. Now I want to play Cpt Blood again

Space Quest 6 FTW

I think the Sarien never appears in that particula room.

Sounds awesome for a 40 or more sound system ^_^ Latter Roger Wilco is probably one of the most hilarious game characters if all time :P

I never realized until now how far advanced Apple was back when Ken and Roberta Williams first started Sierra On Line. Though now we have more technology available today, it seems to me we have lost touch with the simple things like computer adventure games like Space Quest. Look forward to seeing the next episode!

@frac Something Awful have done tons of text-only Let's Plays.

Planetfall! Ah, the memories. Brilliant game. I may actually "Let's Play" it. I wonder if anyone has done a text-only "Let's Play"...
