evolutionary catalysts. very psychedelic...

It's insane that a lot of the effects in this movie look way, way more realistic than the CGI stuff we get nowadays.
-
The first day of shooting on 2001 - 50 years ago today, 29 December 1965.

Can someone tell me what is the actual meaning of this scene, dont worry about spoiling, i probably wont bother watching the whole movie...
-
Let it be very clear that this movie is Sci-Fi's greatest tales ever made.

same theme uses in Godzilla trailer

Let's be honest. If a similar monolith was found on the moon, it's origins would be debated for decades.

My job is to tell museum visitors not to touch things.
They should see this.
Or... I should have been there? -
Has anybody noticed the similarities between this scene and it's music and the scene in The Thing when Kurt Russell and the lads encounter the Alien pod thing in a similar crater... It's uncanny. I think Ennio Morricone did the music in The Thing.

I prefer this one rather, the moon landing video... great directions from Kubrick both.

That monolith reminds me of the timelessness of ancient Egyptian black statues. It also seems to evoke Minimalism in 1960s and 1970s (the time when Space Odyssey was released). Whenever I see those black monoliths, I'm keep thinking of Maya Lin's abstract and serious Vietnam Veterans Memorial and Donald Judd's minimalistic cubes evoking the uncanny beauty of geometry and simplicity. I just love the monolith's simple but imposing form. I feel its smooth and sharp edges create the notion of artificiality (something that proves the existence of civilizations and intelligent beings).

i am not trolling i am just saying did any one else notice the sound is a little off the pitch of the music and the buzz is slightly off in this video. regardless this secen still gives me goose bumbs.

Godzilla ?

one thing they got wrong is that it would not be so dark on the surface unless there in a huge crater
