Hello Engineers! Today, we are pushing all the features from last week’s enormous update to the stable branch. Just in case you missed the news, this includes the total block redesign, new multiplayer netcode, a tutorial campaign and much more! We wanted to make this great update available to all players as you’ve been asking for it all week! In combination with this today’s bug and crash fixes, you should be able to enjoy a stable gameplay experience. This update also marks the transition of Space Engineers moving to Beta phase. The most important thing to remember with this announcement is that there is still more content, improvements and many optimizations to come. As an example, we can confirm that one of the things being worked on currently is a new HUD which should significantly increase your immersion in the game. Beta simply means that we feel the game now has a solid foundation. OK mate we love you, but when the video playing in the background, which is the contetn, is only 1.4 of the screen space, its really difficult to see what is going on

What a piece of shit game. Its been 6 months since I quit playing after a mandetory update made multiplayer rubberbanding issues so bad the game was unplayable. After 3 weeks of waiting for the devs to fix it I moved on to other games. Now that the game is in Beta I thought I'd give it another go.
I started off in the new tutorial. Just a refresher for the controls. But couldn't make it past the first mission. You are supposed to investigate a station then flee to an escape pod as it is under attack. Somewhere along the way you have to jump a 1 block gab of broken station or fall into space and die. I mean it makes sense right? The station is trashed and your only hope is an escape pod but somehow the gravity generator is working but your jet pack isn't? Yet it seems impossible to jump the gap. The closest I got after 30 minutes of trying and dieing over and over was to land somehow on the bottom edge of the blocks you are supposed to jump onto. But couldn't get up from there. The platforms are missaligned and there is a low ceiling over your head so you can't jump high enough to make the gap. Cmon guys the FIRST MISSION IS BROKEN? WTF!
Ok so I gave up on the tutorial refesher course and went straight to multiplayer. First thing I notices is that inspite of supposedly new netcode you still can't find any populated server that holds more than 20-25 people. Which IMO is pathetic. Considering Empyrion servers can easily hold 177 without any significant lag issues. I joned a public server with 19/20 people on it and once loaded in took at atmospheric lander and then checked the sim speed. 0.55. So with new netcode and 6 months of improvements the servers still can't handle even 20 people without dialating the game speed to 1/2 of normal game speed? Again this is pathetic. But I thought hey lets see if anything else works.
I landed on the planet with no problem. Scouted out some ore and went to drill a little up. After getting it refining I hop back into my flight seat and take off to go scout for different ore types. Detatched the landing gear and took off gently. Sadly it seems I was continueing to float off the planet even without applying any upward thrust. I hit "C" to have the ship go down. Nothing still floating up. I turned off the inertial damps. Surely that would get the ship down right? NO! still floating up. I turned off power to the ship completely. Still Floating UP!. Finally nothing else working I turned the ship upside down so I could use the massive upward facing thrusters to push the ship down and gave a quick thrust back towards the ground. I then turned the ship right side up and leveled it with the horizon and turned the inertial damps back on. I stoped about 10 meters above the ground and again started floating up. This has become maddening at this point but I keep trying and eventually after a few tries I almost managed to get it down safely but impacted the ground with the ship level at about 20 m/s ... a little fast. The ship broke in 1/2 and was basically destroyed.
This "bug" where planetary gravity doesn't affect ships properly or at all has been a part of the game since before I quit playing 6 months ago. It should be an enormous embarassment to the develpment team that this either can't be resolved or they just don't care to. I know this doens't happen every time. It doesn't happen to every person. But it happens frequently enough that for those it affects randomly like it just did me the game is unplayable. I mean WTF can I do if I can't even land my atmospheric lander starter ship?
It should also be an embarassment that they can't manage fix a game breaking bug from 8 months ago, or to create server software that can handle more than 20 or so people on a server before game speed is cut to 1/2. And that they can't even make the first mission in their tutorial playable. This game should be taken back to pre alpha. I pitty anyone investing hopes that this game will ever reach its full potential. I had similar hopes a year ago when I found this game and I've regretted it ever since. Good job on the new textures for the ship components. I might not be able to land my ship on a planet but at least it looks good floating off into the horizon. Lmao -
The large ion thruster is a massive pain to fit, can we please get a medium thruster im thinking Length 3 height 2 width 2... it would be a nice inbetween
