are small cargo containers still better?
-
pleas build a large ship
i really don't know where to start -
I don't like this design, 2 out of the 3 times I used it it got stuck it the asteroid. So I built one that is a 3rd this size. I did this by finding out you don't need a drill in each spot I took out four and put thrusters in place of them with a drill on each side of them. This allows me to have a smaller ship with one large cargo hold. It's meant for riding on a bigger ship to the asteroid. I still get the 5x5 grid and works better never gets stuck. I also get reverse if want and can turn.
If you want to improve on this one take out every other drill, on this design you would get 12 drills 3 to use on each side. Use conveyors to fill in some of the holes. Leave 4 on inner ring open for thrusters if wanted. This gives you 24 drills in a 6x6 grid. Start with conveyor in middle work out from there. You can put a spotlight on the conveyors. There should only be 12 drills on outside ring anything in between them will only get caught. This gives more ore per pass, gives space on all sides no getting stuck, and allows you to leave the ship if needed. If you are not limited by the 25 drill you can fill in the outside ring with drills to get a clean hole. -
by no means purdy but looks like she does the job

loved the cowboy bebop reference at the end!

Now that.......was a well done tutorial.........very similar in speaking style as I have done tutorials in the past :D made me crack a wide smile
-
Ok, interesting design, what I don't understand: how is the ore moved around? I don't see any conveyors, the ore moves automatically in joined cargo containers?
-
Amazing guide, thanks for sharing!

Another great tutorial! I enjoyed some of your mistakes in the first ones because I made the same ones so I already knew how to fix from you video.
Is there any way to mount a large ore detector to a small ship? -
Really loving these videos Gas Bandit. Since you seem to really know your stuff, I was wondering what you do with your copious amounts of stone from advanced miners?
-
Just wanted to thank you for all your videos. You are extremely helpful

ugh.. your bob the builder was shaking and twerking like nicki minaj.. While this one seems kinda steady and balanced.. Shame i didn't watch it before bob the builder ;D
-
Great tutorial! I would like to see what you recommend as a fightership and/or battleship + your idea of a proper station defense?
-
finished watching....awesome...excellent. could you share how you build of the heavy fighter?
and also some tips of fighting or some live pvp clips~~~~~
i set up my base 60 km from centre last week (as instructed) , got some refinary and assemblers working. built myself a small mining ship and welder/grinder combine ship.
i built myself a very very small ship with just one grinder and went for trouble and got killed by players... just want some pvp advices/clips, you know.... it'd be also great if you can show me how your heavy fighter is built...
cheers -
Exactly what i wanted!!!!

Hunter, I can't respond to you because your G+ profile is set to not allow replies.
As of right now, in multiplayer, there's no such thing as a good "boarding ship" due to lag/desynch issues turning any kind of grappling action (such as using landing gears to attach to another ship) into an explosive, ship-tearing disaster. That's also why you don't see many people using "carriers" with hangars full of fighters, even though we all desperately want them - the update syncs between different ship entities is so buggy right now that any such ships connected by landing gears (or even sometimes connectors) while moving is impossible to accomplish and usually causes massive damage to both ships involved. Perhaps once the netcode is improved somewhat, that can be done.
As for fighters, they're not really my bag - I tend to specialize more in frigates and destroyers, personally, but perhaps I can put something together at some time just to demonstrate the principles of fighter craft. -
Would you mind doing a tutorial on a good Boarding ship or starfighter?
