Space Engineers - Simple In-Atmosphere Welding Ship Tutorial
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
With planets arrived I thought it would be a good idea to do some tutorials for the basic things you'll wanna build in survival, starting off with a welding craft desgined to hover in atmosphere and make the early steps of building that much easier. Designed as a starter ship to make future ship building and maintenance easier it has ample cargo and battery life for 15mins of flight, with easy expansion further. One thing I don't understand, you used a battery, which, is, nearly not enough to power up those thrusters? Or i'm probably doing something wrong because in the first place you (in survival at least) you need something to charge the battery up, and even if it's loaded, how long would it last with some components in the cargo
-
What version of the game it is??
-
Why does my ship not hover?
-
How did you build the platform like that
-
Why do you need an oxygen tank, not a vent if it's an in-atmosphere ship?
-
Why do you need an oxygen tank, not a vent?
-
where are the other desings?

I'm sorry for asking, is there a tutorial for you Figther which you can see at 0:40 in the background?
Besides this thank you for teaching me this game with those tutorials mate :) -
What type of graphic card are you using?
-
can you do a video on a good ship to fly into space for the first time (maybe a ship that can land again to get suplies) ?
-
Wouldn't it be better if you put an air vent instead of an oxygen generator?
-
Once those cargo containers fill up, that thing is going to get too fat for 6 thrusters. I'm guessing inventory contents didn't add to ship mass back then?
Edit: just built it. More than 2 back thrusters is needed. Just rammed the connector on the base. Hard. -
Great tutorial man thanks!
-
do u know what it looks like you never reply to any actual questions on here so forget it
-
yeah great to watch u build it for survival in creative mode, but what about a tutorial to show what it would ACTUALLY be like. IE to build this IN survival mode. I mean i am aware i CAN cheat, but that is not the point for me. The challenge is surely to land, survive, build, thrive rather than just hopping out of survival when its too hard.? or? am i missing something?

So I just bought the game since it just went on sale for 70% off, and I've completed all 14 tutorials, but there are a lot of things left unexplained. For example, how did you mass place and delete blocks?
Also, do ion thrusters not work in atmosphere? I've been trying to make a light interceptor that can break orbit, but it can't even get off the ground. It works fine in space, so what might be wrong? Is it the weight? Do ion thrusters no longer function once in atmosphere? Is there somewhere in the game that tells me how much volume (I assume that's the weight measurment in this game) a single thruster can lift? How much energy do parts use, and how much do generators generate? What about batteries? It'd be neat to make an ultralight spaceship powered solely by solar panels and batteries, but I don't know where on the HUD that info is displayed (doesn't show when highlighting a part).
I know it's a lot of questions all at once, but the tutorial really left me hanging.
Oh, and one more thing... I enjoy designing VTOL and space ships for X-Plane 10 GE, and thruster location is incredibly important in that (all about leverage), but I'm not sure about SE. Do I need to place pitch and yaw thrusters at the front and rear of the craft like in X-Plane, or does it not make a difference where engines are placed, so long as all 3 axis have their positive and negative thrusters? Some people might say "SE is just a game, and X-Plane is a sim," but engine placement actually mattered in a game as childlike as Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts (SE reminds me a lot of that game).
Any help would be appreciated. -
how does he lock the landing gear down on the platform?
-
I wish the in game tutorial was as well done as this video tutorial.

How'd you get a planet where you are not constantly being attack by pirates?
