Couldn't we use solar sails to bring an asteroid into range to act as a counterweight rather than rockets? Just asking.
-
Do a video about space elivators on the moon / mars. perhaps using one of mars moons as a counter weight
-
but paper cant lift things people brainwashed into slaving for paper lift things
-
jjust don't build it, no one cares about going to space when you have nations fucking each other up all the time
-
The tether in space that was stretched out was accessed and released remotely and no one knows why it happened but it did. What makes you think that won't happen with this space elevator. Those people say that something off world gave the command because no command was sent via Earth so are they crazy or are they telling the truth.
-
shame this is outdated, by spacex reusable rockets, rocket might now be actually cheaper.
-
The counterweight wants to travel in a straight line, but the cable keeps pulling it back, causing it to travel in a circle around the earth.. Sounds like centrifugal force to me.
-
Not sure how much "smarter" folks are after listening to this. Nobody has ever suggested an elevator will be built tomorrow. It will only be possible with new materials, new construction methods, a national (not international) will, money (we're all up to our eyeballs in debt) and other advances.
One aspect rarely mentioned is what we build with all the tens of thousands of tons of material sent up there. The one thing this does is open up the possibility of much larger vessels. -
I wish it exist now
-
who is this "we" ...most cultures on earth don't contribute shit to humanity. instead of "we" just say Whites and Asians.
-
This can't work I think because the earth and the moon rotates the elevator can rip half and cause death that's what I think or they can use a moving elevator that move
a machine that has wheels and can on space an on earth should put a machine on the ocean and people could ride a boat to it or make waiting stop around the earth this could not happen it would need A lot o time an tehenolly i Telly don't how to spell that word sry -
All videos these days are spoiled by this annoying cutting off sentences. It's really annoying and not cool, it doesn't make the video easier to understand it MAKES IT HARDER
-
Do a Video on MagLiftSpace lanch. You know like the magnetic trains but used to launch a shuttle.
-
harnessing an asteroid and bringing it to earth sounds like a bad idea, to me.
-
Instead of sending a counterweight up, why not gather uncommissioned satellites/stations and other space debris. Like tie/fuse them all together.
-
Anyone have a link to the sources? the one in the description is broken
Cheers -
It's not necessary to put it in geosynchronous orbit as long as we have some kind of tube circling the Earth on a great circle, mounted on ball bearings, with the shaft attached to that movable thing. Duh. Or we can control the top end's position by burning rocket-fuel out of it. All the time. 24/7/365.
-
Elevator out of order, use the stairs please.
-
RPBLPX PEOPLE,
-
What if you took all the garbage orbiting the earth and made that into the counter weight.
