So far 27 Challenger/Columbia Hoaxers had the misfortune of being thrown out into space without the benefit of a spacesuit!

i love you NASA

Somehow I only keep thinking about Julia Resnik. She majored on the same subject as I did in college. I almost try to ignore the high school teacher even though she lived only halt an hour drive from where I live.

the last recorded response was really, Roger but, we're really suffering

Classic case of scientific hubris. Hubris makes very smart people act like morons

With no one left behind to pull the zoom back and pivot up with the LM as it takes off, and with a 1.5 second delay from the Earth, how (on Earth) was this scene shot??? -
Foam.
Right.
How about a skin of stainless steel? -
I think the astronauts knew what was going to happen too... They also all kept their calm... I have much love for everyone involved in this. I have much respect for NASA.
-
Has anyone ever done the math on the length of time between the final voice transmission and the first sign of the breakup of the shuttle? I'm hoping that span is very, very short.

Should charge the managers with murder/negligence. Have them hanged.

Wow this vid is f#*!ed up a portion of the video is repeated (@53:45) a gap or cut away look on the right and bottom sides of the frame some sort of flowers on the lower lower left and upper right of the frame and a resolution that has been replaced over 8 to 10 years ago give or take if the 2015 is to be believed.

Any chance for an HD version of this seriously its from 2015 and vids are still in only 360p?

I had left aerospace and gone on to work in the commercial aviation industry. When Challenger was lost, I was sleeping off a backpacking trip we had returned from the night before.
Was called to work and ushered into bosses office, was told my vacation was being extended and I was back at my old employer within 48 hours. We had to be available for questions. We did not have any connection with the failure
this kind of thing was happening at all the contractors.
When Columbia happened I was working in Phoenix. I was outside on the patio and had long ago stopped following the Shuttle launches but the radio was on and I started listening to the landing the broadcast. They were waiting for the comms to come back on. As this static went on I felt something was not right. Then the reports started coming in about debris from Texas.
Spaceflight is not routine. -
since no one mentioned this, i will. Constellation program had been cancelled but it was replaced by a scaled down and refined Space System Launch or SLS. SLS utilizes Orion spacecraft and will effectively reach beyond lunar orbit by 2025.

Nixon was an idiot (mic drop).
-
If they were so concerned about the foam strike, why didnt the faggots at NASA ask the crew to do a space walk? Not too bright.

I was teaching a class of third graders this year and none of them knew what a space shuttle was. I get that it was limited as to what it could do and how far it could travel, but I feel like it's part of my childhood or something so I'm a bit nostalgic and sad that the program is over. I almost cried when I saw the shuttle on display at the California Science Center. All the pictures and video of the space shuttles do not do them any justice. You simply have to see it. It is 100 times more beautiful and impressive, and bigger than you can imagine.
