The German dub is the best :D true story
-
Dr. Gel's ship is the Statue of Liberty's head because it could be a Planet of the Apes reference since he's a gorilla.
-
already watched it all in dub but thanks for this since I was wondering
-
So I never watched this show and just watched the same scenes like 10 times going from dub/sub/dub/sub you get it.
No matter how I look at it.. I'm gonna go with dub. In this case I feel that the japanese version feels 'flat'. The things they say have more depth in the dubbed version most of the time.
P.S. I normally instantly hate anything that is dubbed. -
Space Dandy is one of those few dubs that is actually really good. And one thing that I've noticed is that in the dub, QT's VA used Auto-Tune while recording to make him sound more like a robot. Whereas in the sub, QT just has a regular voice, no Auto-Tune.

The toonami intro nails the show's feel far better.
-
The ape and the statue of liberty head is a reference to the original planet of the apes made in the 60's:)
-
I personally prefer the sub. I always watch the subs first because it's the original version and I want to see it how it was created. I just love how the Japanese language sounds! English sounds so harsh to me. I prefer their voices, as well. I can just hear the chauvinistic cockiness in Dandy's Japanese voice. :P However, the dub jokes do tend to be funnier! I love "I can't read circle!" xD

The English dub is a lot better in this anime.
-
Dude you need to relax when you watch this xD Yes there is actually quite a bit to interpret in this show but the dub acting is pure entertainment and Ian Somethingorother is excellent as Dandy. The Dub has had the best English VA's guest in the last season, it's quite an impressive cast list.

The statue of liberty is a reference to the original Planet of the Apes

Was the dub first release an experiment?
-
To be honest, I like the dub and sub. I really don't care as long as the both version do a good job. And really, both version did a great job. I can get use to watching the show dubbed, and that's rare cause I don't always watch anime in dub all the time unless it's a particular show with great performance from the voice actors that makes me want to watch it over and over in English.
-
Thank you, very well put!
-
the dub is obviously better because qt's dub voice has a layer of vocoder
-
random cat in the background- pfft eue
-
i like the dub version better
the whole weaboo generic voices doesn't appeal to me -
I was lucky enough to see the last 3 episodes in English, rest I saw the subbed, I liked how you compared the two together, I just think the two are close enough in quality or whatever that really its up to you how to watch it. I probably would of done 50/50 if I knew that it was simulcast dub (I didn't know that until towards the end.) The thing is, like you pointed out, sometimes they can throw in little things here and there to make it more fun, but sometimes they have to get rid of a joke or change it a bit because of whatever reason. Regardless of what you watch its a fun and high quality show. For me they are too close together to really say one is better over the other.

madman had total shit streaming that buffers forever, alternatives that work for oceanic region?? looking for dubs
-
If they shortened the opening for more add time why do we have the Japanese opening now? Are they running less adds or is there even less time for rolling the credits now?
