As a guy who quite literally watch all the Yamato series (Star Blazers and again on fansub), I personally liked the original series as opposed to 2199. While, obviously, the animation was improved dramatically, the plot was rushed and rather cliched by modern standards. But in any case, I will be watching Soliders of Love coming out in 2017.

I didn't know any of this! I suspected that there was a connection between Yamato and Captain Harlock, but didn't know it for sure. I haven't seen Yamato yet, but it's on my list. And all of the other shows/spin-offs? I wasn't even aware of them. I guess my "To-watch" list just grew quite a bit.

was walking past a yard sale one day that had the whole DVD collection with the movies too, i didn't know what the show was but it just caught my eye and i knew i had to have it :) Leiji Matsumoto's other anime's are good too, all his shows actually form a multiverse with some of them set in the same universe just different time its called the Leijiverse.
Daft punk exist in one of those universes too <3 -
