Episode 6 - The sun sets on Pluto Space Battleship Yamato 2199 (宇宙戦艦ヤマト2199 Uchū Senkan Yamato Ni-ichi-kyū-kyū?) is a 2012 Japanese military sci-fi anime television series that is a remake of the first Space Battleship Yamato TV series created by Yoshinobu Nishizaki and Leiji Matsumoto in 1974, known in the United States as Star Blazers. So are shock cannons some sort of electric energy gun thing, or are they straight-up lasers?

So, I've noticed this a while back, but it looks like the base exploded not because the Yamato hit the fuel tanks but because the ship at 0:24 crashed into one of those planet killer bullets / bomb the empire used (https://youtu.be/dzWfu3STLtQ?t=25s) and THAT triggered the chain reaction, which in turn would probably detonate other such munitions on the base.
