Space aliens on Congress' agenda
About | Information | History | Online | Facts | Discovery
The House Science, Space and Technology Committee isn't necessarily known for its scientific gravitas. For instance, one of its former members, Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.), made the infamous comment regarding "legitimate rape" that was soundly discredited by the scientific and medical communities. Now, just one day after Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) blasted the Environmental Protection Agency for not using so-called "sound science" in their efforts to slow or reverse the effects of climate change, the congressman held a hearing on space aliens on Wednesday. RT's Meghan Lopez brings us more on Smith's "Astrobiology: The Search for Biosignatures in Our Solar System and Beyond" hearing. The should be focusing on Aliens coming over the borders....

The ignorance of this piece is so incredibly stunning! It was FANTASTIC that Congress had a sound hearing on this topic. Trying to get up to speed to scientific findings that fundamentally alter our understanding of our place in the universe. And this lady tries to dismiss it as some insignificant side-hobby? Of course Congress needs to talk about issues here on earth, but supporting people who try to answer some of the most fundamental questions humanity has ever had, seems like something that's very much in their job description. There is no excuse for this lady to try to undermine that.

Reaching WAY too far for a slam on the man. Can't say I know much about him, to be honest, but if there is dirt on him then you've gone looking in the wrong places for it. This is one of the few respectable things Congressmen do, these days. Personally I thought most people were in agreement that these types of explorations are not just symbolic of mankind's highest ideals, but are also crucial to understanding the great mysteries which have plagued us since the beginning: what does it mean to be human, where do we come from, and are we alone?

Stupid Bi-//H sums it up pretty well. NASA has confirmed already that that every star (SUN) has at least one planet orbiting around them. The Kepler Telescope was launched to locate these explainers that are in the earth like habitable zone as in size, distance, atmosphere gasses containing water O2 etc. They are finding possible habitable planets every day. I guess these facts rattles the public paradigm so they prefer to make jokes and call intelligent scientist nuts cases. Well, our planet and species is not so special after all folks. There is the good possibility that there are technologically advanced species of life that are thousands of years ahead of us. They have already been visiting....

If aliens ever come to earth and don't instantly kill every single psychopath in power then it's a hoax. ^^

The sun and the tilt of the earth are the biggest drivers of climate change. Not humans. Humans affect on climate change is very small. I'm not saying that it's ok to pollute our planet but the whole humans being the driver of climate change is far fetched. Don't let some politician tell you that we need to tax the air we breathe. That is tyrannical to say the least

Well, astrobiology, aliens, and all that is great and real nice and sweet, etc, etc ... what I would like to know though is what are some of these political ingrate's doing about solving the many issue's we have here in our country right now, beside's banking/ financing/ subsidizing (with our damn money) too big to fail corporate entities making them even larger and deadlier, starting corporate engineered war's, and cutting our entitlement's, pension's, benefit's, work etc while continuing to screw up mother nature and the earth? We need to do some political biology and dissect some of this worthless bunch of political representatation we have of the same day old player's/ politician's decade after decade and clean house. And no Mr. Smith doesnt represent me or any other Texan that I know.

While I agree there are some fairly pressing issues in the United States, unfortunately science has also continued apace, and it is quite possible within the next two decades that we may be standing on whatever is habitable at Alpha Centauri. The logical step to take is to begin addressing the possibilities, now, even if it's only a little hearing here and there, about these questions.
Here's the article on io9 -> http://io9.com/5963263/how-nasa-will-build-its-very-first-warp-drive
There are other pressing issues going on in space, as well, such as the increasing amount of debris most likely coming our way, and the fact this planet, if the population growth continues unabated, will look like Luc Besson's New York City from The Fifth Element in the next fifty years.
Yes, our livelihood, now, is very important, and is not to be under-rated, but our future is important, too, and if we don't pay attention to how to handle that, we're a hurtin' unit as well. -
How He can see it is because we are not talking about aliens, you dumb B***CH, the subject is about the study of data and new info about characteristics of planets different than ours, able to sustain other life forms, not aliens. The global warming subject is being discussed as partisan because the whole issue is not being based on fact, but upon suggestion and influence from groups that stand to make more money because of those partisan ideals. I had a different idea about what RT news was all about I guess. I am now just about certain that RT has an agenda that is, at least, partially paid for by somebody and not as objective as I first thought. Oh well, another one bites the dust, I guess.
-
I'm now questioning the legitimacy of RT.
-
And of course RT, would act in a nature to debunk the flying saucer subject. Typical sensationalism, typical.

The only time Space Aliens has to do with climate change, is if your reading the Utopian Billy Meier material. Which by definition a Utopia doesn't exist.
-
Life does exist on others planets. It's a mathematical certainty. The focus should be on ways to sustain our own ecosystem in a way that's beneficial to all life on earth.

The Old Testament was crafted by altering the Tablets of Enki the first Sumerian. Tesla attributed the magic of his work to the secrets of the Egyptian pyramids. Edward Leedskalnin said he discovered the secrets of the ancients. The Nazi´s studied ancient Indian texts about vimannas and after WWII the top scientists were brought to the U.S. where Werner Von Braun wound up heading nasa. The 13 mayan crystal skulls are said to give history of human kind when together....interesting as quartz is currently used in computers to store memory. Too bad only 2 have been uncovered and even the ruins with names people know like
Palenque are only partially excavated (palenque is only 10% excavated). The governments dont want us to know how to free ourselves from oil barrons and bankers. -
When this interview was given, Exactly? 1817 ??
-
Simply declassify documentaries from the illuminati government and you should get the answers.
-
Are you retarded? Why is searching for life unsound science? It's the future.
-
What really sucks is no one is going to report this but RT
-
It's partisan politics because of the corporate lobbyists pushing this bullshit.
-
Aliens as sound science? That is sound science! There is life in outer space. Our own planet is more than enough proof of that. Instead of wasting funding on Climate Change, science should be better funded to head to the stars and discover what's out there, rather than mulling over partisan/political pseudo-science on our own planet; which amounts to nothing but another tax on the working class by the idiot liberal democrats.
Thanks again RT America, for another stupid report.
